Great deal on the shaft!

Yeah, I've got an '84 Honda Shadow as my relief driver. Older than I am, but even just driving from Woburn to Medford I save $7 a day commuting with it!

Time for an update I guess.

Finished the engine work up a few weeks back, and the Jeep is running much better now. Unfortunately the fan controller melted after 2 days, despite being wired correctly, and it's now running off of a manual switch. I'm most likely going to switch back to a stock mechanical fan for simplicity, as I haven't noticed much of a difference with the electric set-up. MPG's went from ~15 to ~17 after a few tanks, I'm hoping it will go up a little more after the computer settles down. I've been fighting the infamous death wobble since then too, and have replaced a few TRE's, luckily all under warranty. I was supposed to go on a camping/wheeling trip this weekend with the club, but I decided to opt out so I could get the stiffeners/sliders done before my trip to Rausch. If we can get some nice weather during the week I'll get the ARB set up in the front by then too. Expect some pictures later in the week.

Yeah, there's an extra pedal too. I haven't figured out what it does yet though...

I think you hold that one down part of the way all the time. At least that's how I rock it when I'm in those wierd cars, just makes it smell funny at first while it warms up.

Did stuff this weekend.

Sick torch table, Torchmate has been hounding me for plans but I'm keeping this **** on lockdown.

Shiny stuff.

Magic paint.

Jeep bondage.

Watching paint dry.

Supposed to wheel this weekend, before I do I'd like to:
-Install t-case skid
-Rebuild front shaft
-Hook up t-case linkage
-Fix winch
-Install passenger seat so I can pretend I has frendz
-Swap in Durango box
-Swap sway bar bushings

And before I go to Rausch in a few weeks I'd like to:
-Replace D30 pinion bearing half-*** style
-Swap in WJ leather seats and new carpet
-Rebuild a set of spare shafts
-Build a roof rack?
-Fix e-brake
-Alignment
-Lube/Check/Tighten erraythang

I hate you Dave.

On another note, I got some stuff done this weekend to get ready for Rausch. I replaced the pinion bearing and rebuilt the front shaft, then hooked up the transfer case linkage. I would have liked to get more done, but I got stupid on the dirtbike and got a pretty serious concussion. I'm supposed to avoid any lifting or strenuous activity for a week because of how I landed on my neck, so I guess it's time to put Dave(squashman) to work. We're planning to swap the interior back in Tuesday, then maybe skids, sway bar bushings and the e-brake on Wednesday. After those are done I should be able to finish it up on Saturday when I'm 100% again.

Here's a shot I took from 'Take your Jeep to work day'. I got to spend Friday/Saturday on a site with two of our road mechanics assembling this brand new excavator for a customer. It was a nice opportunity to get out of the shop and do something a little different.

They actually were nearly identical- both are 1994 factory 5 speeds. 2 out of the 400 known to exist.

I need some help from you guys with winch experience. My M8000 was working fine, then crapped out after 1 pull at MABell when I smashed my bumper. I started checking it out today and and I have good power to the control box, as well as a good ground. When I hit the switch on the controller I get 12v to all 4 solenoids, no matter what position I put the switch in. I should only get it to 2 at a time, right? I also noticed that none of the solenoids have ground wires, which I thought was odd. Even if I apply power/ground straight from the battery to each individual solenoid, I get nothing, no click, no continuity. Any suggestions on what to check next?

Here's a picture if it's any help.
