Taillight CB Mount WJ

I put my rear tail light mount for the CB on today...thought I'd just do a little right up on how I did it...

Parts list (Really only need this specific mount, rest of parts you can get whatever you want):

http://www.walcottcb.com/product_info.php?cPath=115&products_id=589

http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-k8a-single-18-foot-coax-with-pl259-connectors-p-200.html

http://www.walcottcb.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=SS34AH&search_ in_description=1

http://www.walcottcb.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=KW3&search_in_ description=1

http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-k1a-internal-locking-quick-disconnect-p-571.html

Remove tail light and rear corner panel (Follow wjjeeps.com trailer hitch install directions)

Put the mount in place, mark holes/drill. Mount. (I used sheetmetal screws + also had to use 2 little washers for the mount furthest forward on the driverside...the surface is not even)

If you want to bolt them, to put the nuts on you'd have to figure out a way to fish them through this gromet...

Another mounted shot...You can see the wiring coming out of the bumper.

I ran the wire through the gromet for the trailer wiring...I dropped the wire down then fished it up through the taillight. (With the taillight out of the way you can reach down intot he bumper to grab it)

With the wire in place, I drilled a hole for the ground/wire holder. I pushed the wire through the little gap between the bumper and bottom of the mount for the tail light.

Now the rest is runing the wire...

When you have the wire through the corner panel, put it back in place...

Push the wire in under the plastic trim...

I stopped here to run it to my CB...

Wire all tucked in under the center console, pretttty clean.

If you have a CB in the dash or something, or want to run the wire up and around through the dash, you'll need more than 18FT, I only had about 1ft extra slack to where my CB is.

Also remember to use silicone in the holes that you drilled, I just covered the screws in it so it threaded through...

And if you don't have trailer hitch/wiring yet, now would be a good time to add it in...

Also Arlo

I ran mine up all the way to the drivers feet, then under the steering wheel and to behind the HVAC/12v outlets. Had a perfect 6" left

There is a reason most come in 18' lengths as well.

Very nice writeup! I just did almost the same thing a couple of days ago. I installed a firestik firefly with the same mount and mounted a Cobra 75 WXST with the brains under the dash. I ran the power cables through the firewall with a grommet to the battery. Everything comes in crystal clear with the engine off, but as soon as the key turns I get a high pitched whistle coming out of the cb speaker. How do I get rid of the interference? I know its the fuel pump and probably the plugs.

Running it down the gromet, then up the taillight, you lose probably a foot or so

If you set yours up like this Ryan I think you'd be short...

Just a smidge...it was perfect until I tighted the lower bolt...

Maybe a little less than yours, it def sits lower than the other side, I'll take better shots later when its outside.

To get rid of the noise, you can put in an inline noise filter - Walcott should have them, or you can head to your local neighborhood truck stop and pick one.

Nickster - nice job - good and clean

my tail light sits just a tad off now, nothing so bad though.

Used this on the underside of the bracket to avoid having so much hanging down...
