I got rid of the CV's a long time ago and converted to u-joint shafts. The inners are custom made from Dutchman Motorsports, and the outers are XJ shafts machined to fit the WJ tone ring. I think the setup ended up running me around $500 when it was all said and done which includes u-joints, and full circle clips. I know the price has gone up for the Dutchman shafts.

The dub's been out of commission for the last few weeks. The last trip ended badly. Broke the ring gear up front and twisted the splines on one of the chromo shafts.

Going to try to make it to the "save the gulches" ride in Feb. so trying to get it back together. Got the 4.56's setup in the d30. It was my first time setting up gears.

Setup was a little easier for my situation since I was replacing 4.56's with 4.56's I was able to reuse the same size shims for the carrier and pinion.

That's quite something, damaging a chromo like that. Do they hold together pretty well though? I know they're not exactly cheap. Anyway, how're the repairs going?

I definitely thought I'd break the stock XJ stub shafts before twisting the chromo inner like that. I've been looking at a couple of different companies to order the replacement shaft from and I think I'm going with ECGS. Chase said he'd offer a warranty on the new shaft, which I wouldn't get through Dutchman.

I'm curious, also. I'd like to toss some in my turdy-five and put in a tru-trac. Long-term, after I get a lift installed. Best laid plans and all that. I need to find a good place for gears, too. I want some 4.10's someday. I need to win the lotto, you see...

I only priced a replacement for the long side inner that was twisted. He quoted about $180. I bought the Nitro gears through him too.
