Was working on he wife's ZJ and found that who ever changed the thermostat and housing left the old thermostat in the bottom of the fan shroud. WTH? Thankfully it did not hurt any thing.
When we bout the thing the parking brake did not work. I thought the cables where stretched out. But that did not make sens as its an auto, no one ever uses the parking brake on an auto right. After pulling the rear rotors off I found the adjusters for the parking brake where backed off all the way. To try and compensate for this the PO had the parking cable adjusted all the way to the bottom to try to get the parking brake working again.

When I was installing a new amp in my 96 ZJ I found a little pouch under the seat laying in front of the stock amp. I thought it was one of those little "coin purses" kids use. I opened it up to check it out and it held a bottle of insulin and 2 syringes. I guess someone's travel kit for diabetes.

About a year after I bought my 97 new, I found an earring under the starboard side rear seat, so I looked at it, knew it wasnt something my wife would have ever worn ( she was the diamond earring type)....so I thought it might belong to my grown daughter or my wife's friend, whom we had to take home a few times due to her excessive alcohol intake. At that point, no other females had ridden in my ZJ except for my wife, my daughter and wifey's friend.

Boy did I catch he11 for that one ! After she went off on me, I looked at her and said " Do you honestly think I'm STUPID enough to ask you about it if there were even a remote possibility it could belong to someone other than you 3 ?"

Geez...women ! Next time, I said I'd just toss it in the trash.....diamond stud or not. (she was not amused)

There is a reason she's an EX wife....

My first ZJ I found almost enough change spread around the interior (under seats, in the console, in the ashtray, under the carpets, in the map pockets, under the transfer case bezel, in the spare tire cover) to pay for registration and title. I think the gas mileage went up by 20% when I removed all that weight.

My white ZJ I found the smudge marks of some foot prints (made by bare feet) strategically placed on the inside of the windshield. By the placing there's only one activity that could have warranted them. Mind you, there were also some very long, very blonde hairs snagged on the lowest point of the steering wheel that seemed to coordinate with the center console lid being broken by being pushed to the driver's side. Me thinks the previous owners were quite active.

This one all I've found was the original retracting cargo cover, original Orvis tire cover and the original Orvis user's manual.

When I got my zj, drivers door had been replaced and painted with an almost bedliner type textured paint. Found over $200 in change in the center console(I kid you not),shattered glass in the drivers seat(I assume window shattered and they just replace the whole door),notes from the PO, stamps shoved inside the plastic trim that covers the steering shaft and ignition cylinder, and my favorite a Burger King salt packet from 1997. My jeeps a 1995 and I bought it in 2011 so the packet had been sitting for 14 years lol. I was almost tempted to use it but decided against it for obvious reasons lol

I didn't find a single thing in mine when I bought it.
No spare change in or under the center console, no fries under the rear seats, no random tools under the hood. Nothing but the owners manual in the glove box and some dirt on the floor mats. Guess it helps that I bought it from my friend and he knew how much I'd ***** about it being dirty lol

Not zj related, but a friend of mine bought a 79 ford. When we pulled the dash off to replace the speedo cable, found that every wire behind the dash had been replaced....

With red, 12g wire. Every bit of it, even the speaker wire. We both liked to crap, but everything worked (even the mid90s factory ford radio) so it is still there.

I hope not in the car...

Seems like that would be annoying if you ever had to splice any wires...

Imagine replacing all of them in the first place...they must have did them all one at a time...
