IIRC you most likely have the D44a (dana 44 with aluminum center section, doesn't use any normal d44 parts) in the rear, but up front ALL grand cherokee's came with a D30, so you're right there!

Dana 44A in the rear . should be 3.73 gears as well. here is a picture of the what the d30 and 44a out of the ZJ with the V-8 look like.
I am thinking it is the 95-95 v-8 with the d35 in the rear. all had the d 30 up front.
D44a on top. d30 on the bottom

He's done all these upgrades on his Jeep and didn't know this? It's just a bit surprising. 96DC, you didn't get the build sheet for your Jeep yet?

uhhh........
lol
I had an idea what I had but wasn't 100% sure. I honestly don't know much when it comes to axles.
I know I have 3.73 ratio's but I didn't know about the axle housings I had. and I also don't know what exactly would be better for my jeep

The only reason I'm glad I have a 35 is because I can install a Detroit True-Trac in it. I don't want a full locker. The lsd that fits in the 44a wears out easily, according to everything I've read. Since I won't be going over 31" tires, I won't likely have issues with the weaker 35C. It seems people complain because they throw on 33-35" tires and a locker and then grenade the axle. Well, it was made for the stock setup, not for 35" tires. LOL It may suck, but it can be made to work. It's not failed me so far with stock setup. I think I'm the poster child for doing what you're not supposed to, that might snap it, too.
