This is what I need to do to my motor. It's gunna take awhile.

Machine work. If the valves are bad I'm just gunna buy new HO Heads and cams.

all 4.7 heads are the same, if you can get cams go a head, my whole h.o set up was less then that. But the h.o. Cams are an't avl through the dealer.. So get them if ya can

I work at Autozone and it says I can get the HO heads with cams for $310 a piece. I feel like that's a fair price.

Looking to lease a new car. Any ideas?? I was looking at. Kia forte because it's $200/month and gets 36mpg.... Can't beat that. My gas bill now is $200/month.

A low MPG is cheaper than another car payment @36MPG + 2 insurance bills.

Let's say that you get 15 MPG and are paying $3.00 per gallon.
$200/$3 per gal = 66.6 Gallons per month * 15 Miles per gallon = 1000 miles per month.

If you buy a car that gets 36 MPG:
1000 miles/36MPG = 27.77 gallons per month * $3.00 per gallon = $83.33 per month

Total "savings" = $116.66

So for this to be an economical decision, you need to find a car with a loan and insurance payment less than or equal to $116.66 per month. Otherwise, it would be better to just keep driving the jeep.

You can substitute your real numbers above to get the real value, I am sure your numbers vary from this a bit. If you just want another car to get around town, that is one thing. But a car payment almost always outweighs the cost of gas.

Yea, Im close to 12 mpg and I feel like I can get a pretty good deal on a little kia and keep the Jeep as a toy. That way I can fix all my problems over time and not in one day. Its really frustrating. :/

Well if you are looking for a car to have just as an extra veh so you can work on the jeep and such then do it. But like was mentioned above, don't think its going to be a money saver if you plan to keep both vehicles. I kicked the idea around a couple years ago of getting a beater honda or something to save money on gas and came to the conclusion it was cheaper to just drive my truck if i wasn't willing to get rid of it.

Yea, I dont know. I would really like to just lease a little kia for $200/month. You can get them brand new for that price. Sounds efficient to me. Maybe any different options?

i drove my 240sx for a long time. but i just sold it this weekend to help make my jeep beautiful. and i couldnt afford the insurance on two cars. just make a good decision

Yea, I'm not sure what to do. I have no money but I need a way to save money. I wish the 4.7L could use half the cylinders on the highway. Someone should make a chip that could make all that work.

Another vehicle is not going to save you money. Especially if you borrow money or lease. You have the car payment, gas for that vehicle, insurance, maintenance, etc. If you can't afford the gas in your Jeep, walk or ride a bike if possible.

^This. (And add registration and taxes each year to that list). I've crunched the numbers several times. The only way you can get close or even do what you're wanting to do is if you drive a tremendous distance to work, have a VERY inexpensive commuter car (like a car you bought for a few hundred or less) that gets insanely good gas mileage, and never needs repairs....

Even then you are committing to owning that vehicle for a good chunk of time before you break even and starting realizing a savings...

It is nice to have a second vehicle for when your primary vehicle breaks down, etc, but if you're buying purely to save money, there's a 95% chance you'll be disappointed.
