Do you two fill up with magic or do you add a quart of liquified fairy dust and ground up unicorn to the tank while filling?
Stock street tires, very conservative driving. Okay fine maybe a little unicorn.

I knew it!

When I get bigger tires... that'll go right out the window.

^^^Sure will, after going to 31's my V8 got thiiiirsty, mostly city driving These days, i really dont want to know how bad of a mpg i Get now.

#6,176 ·
I get 12 around town, heavy foot!

The roads sure suck around here back home! The springs really show how stiff they are around the city. Has anyone ever thought that these springs are just *too* stiff for the WJ and the suspension to handle? Like I was wondering if the springs can cause issues being too stiff and not absorbing the bumps? Crossed my mind but, probably not an issue.

The Jeep sure likes to have little shimmies around here, no where near the realm of full DW mind you... I'm not sure if that is just how it is going over all these bumps or what. (40-50 mph). Nothing that is bad, just the steering wheel will go back and forth a time or two and settle out, small but present. Not to mention that I have to constantly correct where I am going... *bump* oh I am going this way now... That is the obnoxious part.

I really hope that you all are right and this is all my tires. I hope to swap them over tomorrow! Also going to check out the Moog SS... It just seems weak and letting the steering *bounce* around.

\mini-rant. LOL

I bet my BDS Are a notch stiffer, and our roads a little worse, but i still like the setup, the 70's profile sucks up the worst of it, anyway you want a tire with quite stiff sidewall to maintain the handling in curves.

#6,179 ·
How does your Jeep drive with the stiff springs?

Haha my tire sidewalls are extremely soft... so that results in the poor handling...

#6,180 ·
With the BDS and Addco F+R it rides firm but not harsh, bodyroll zero to nothing, very stiff and confident thrue curves, i love the handling, its Way better than stock.
Alitte harsher vs stock w/Billys at 60's profile,
But not harsher than stock at 20's with 50's profile.
Perfect at 70's profile which i got now ;) ;)

Will try to air mine up a notch now as temp raise from 10-25 degree Celcius, deff can feel them getting softer.

Good luck with the tires,

#6,181 ·
Yeah I almost think it rides harsh sometimes. Need long arms I guess! Haha.

Deep well pans are a mixed blessing.

Loss of ground clearance on the most vulnerable part of your vehicle.
Cast aluminum will crack where the stock steel pan would dent.

You'd be better off buying a new stock pan and having the bungs welded into it. It's not like you would benefit from the deep-well pan anyway given that you have already added a large aux trans cooler.

#6,184 ·
I didn't even really read that much about it, I knew it was a deep well but didn't think much about aluminum. Cracking versus steel denting. I'll check prices on a stock pan, not a huge priority. When it comes time to change the fluid and filter this will be revisited.

Another thing that has come up was about the Moog SS (and even my Rough Country SS), the bushing have so much play in them. I took it off and inspected and there was notable for play. I'm not sure how much that has on the steering. When a friend put on his stock stabilizer that had the bolt already connected didn't have the play that the Moog did, he had said that the stock stabilizer did a better job than the Moog?!

Lastly, there is some body rust going on the driver side passenger fender in the door well. Calling body shops tomorrow to get quotes to just grind off the paint and re do that area. Its not bad and its rotting through yet. No metal should need to be replaced. But I want to take care of it now before it gets any worse. I've got no idea why its bubbling either. There is no damage on either side, doesn't make any sense.

Cleaned up the Piece today. I do not know if you all remember the one time I had full on DW over a bridge on I-64, the only time. I went back over the bridge and it was alright this time around. I guess loose lug nuts really can cause you to have a bad day.

Wow man, thats super clean, Thumbsup!!!
Mine is just full of pollen, driving the beater bike These summer days ;)

#6,187 ·
Thank you, it had been about a month since the last "bath" haha. She was dirty!

I've been more busy with work then I have been with school lately, not what I was expecting! I was hoping to have finished painted and the other two 17" rims and have them on by now too!

Hey this might be something you all could help me with... my oil has been getting black very fast, after about 3000 miles its black. Not even dark brown, black. I've got no clue why. There are no leaks in the PCV system or vacuum system, (I'm not sure of the exact term). Air Filter is clean and such. There was not any fuel in there from the oil analysis.

#6,189 ·
Are you running stock tune? Perhaps your 02 sensor might be on its way out? Just thinking of things that would blacken up your oil quicker, ie more fuel in oil generally can cause black stinky oil.

#6,190 ·
I've been running the 87 SuperChips Tune for like 2 years. Don't know. But wouldn't I get really crappy mpg in the Jeep if I an O2 was going out?

#6,191 ·
Faulty O2 sensors should mess up your mpg,
Oil going black after 3000 miles sounds normal to me, only thing you could do is to use some engine flush at every oil change to Get shhh out of the engine, i use Omega engine flush, might Work with seafoam to, never tried That stuff.

#6,192 ·
Maybe I should try some of that engine cleaner, does it get any sludge/crap out? Can you post a link? Can't hurt to try it.

#6,193 ·
Actually it can hurt. If you have any seals being held together by "engine gunk" or are weak and on their way out, the cleaning agents may cause new leaks to show up. Arguably that means you probably should have known about and replaced the problem already but some people are not always prepared for an engine teardown or to have stuff replaced right away. I already have a list and I'd rather not add to mine.

#6,194 ·
I've got new oil pan gasket, rear main seal, and crank case deal. About 30k on them so I would not expect them to be weak. Are there any other seals that I'm missing?

When did you get a new oil pan gasket?? I know there's also valve cover deal (but that's mad easy to do, and head gasket (shouldn't be held together with sludge anyways) but I'm sure there's other seals internal to the engine I'm not familiar with (perhaps oil pump seal?)

#6,196 ·
I had them all done awhile back, maybe two years ago. Even the valve cover and the timing chain cover.

#6,197 ·
You should be fine, some of Those engine cleaner/flush can be to strong and might cause problems with Leaks.

I have used the Omega engine flush at every oil change at my Jeep for 4 years now,
Havent had any leak and my engine use use no oil at all, supricingly after 168k km.

http://www.magnagroup.com/products/omega/product_list/907/index.asp

Idk if its availeble over there in US.

#6,198 ·
I'd do the ATF trick. Works for me, never had any ill effects. It goes like this...

When you're ready for an oil change, pull the filter. Slap a new one on. Replace the missing oil (about 1 qt) with ATF. Doesn't matter which kind, just get the cheapest you can. Drive about 100 miles. Drain all oil + replace filter again. I looked into the drain hole on my old Audi after doing this and the crankcase was downright shiny when peering in there. Another thing you can do is just run really short OCIs with cheapo oil, like do 3 changes every 1000 miles and you'll probably see a much cleaner engine in the process.
