good choice using a relay ..while it takes more time and more wire to run them they are really helpful...also dont forget a fuse

Here is the revision. Between you and Omlet over on the WK section both recommended adding the fuses.

Since you have a WJ, where would be a good place to tap those two switch wires?

ALSO?! Is anyone else having problems with the email system for JF?!?! I am not getting my emails like I was about new posts? When I get them, they are way way old?!

Only 4 more class days and then I am heading back home to my Jeep (and friends/family) hahaha

If all goes to plan, will be doing:
- Optima Yellow Top
- Oil/Filter Change
- Wash/wax
- Tire pressure Check
- Audio retuned
- Work on the new set of rims
- Possible CB radio
- Rock light install (pending delivery on time)
- Driving it back to Virginia Tech!!!!

Yeah! I have been having a lot of fun at college but have been missing the friends/family and the Jeep. LOL. So it will nice to have a break and do some fun projects! I will be off for a week. Leaving VT friday and coming back next Sunday afternoon.

HAHA, I am arranging the shipping on the springs here shortly so I need to see how that is going to go.

I had it and I liked it at first, I thought that it had helped the transmission with kickdowns but it still had the one problem in the one spot. The 42re's are not FULLY electronic so a good bit of it is still controlled by fluid pressure, something that the chip can not control. You really just can't get what you can out of it if you had a v8. I wish I had take official 0-60 numbers with and without it. If I have time this week. I will do a 0-60 stock and a 0-60 running the performance 93 tune running premium. I though when I first got it there was something there, but it could have been a placebo affect.

There are not as many options "programming wise" compared the v8 either, all I had was the "Mileage XL", "87 Tune", and the "93 Performance" tune. So all in all I am kinda ehh on it.

For the 42RE, I think fresh fluid, filter, and adjusted bands as well as adjusting the kickdown cable(TV) will make a lot more difference than a programming chip. I've done all of this, or had it done(I still can't do everything on my Jeep myself) short of the bands. I wish someone in this town I live in knew how to work on Jeeps. The bands would be Greek to these people. They know nothing of Jeeps. Are GM and Ford all that Texans know how to work on?

I really want to get the bands done at some point. I had fluid/filter change and that helped out a lot! I do not know what it is, but there is only one scenairo that the kickdown is bad. It is when I am in 3rd gear and 75% throttle and then mash it to the floor to bump down to 2nd and that is when it is super hard kick. The rest are not bad at all... I can be doing 25 mph in 2nd (maybe third) and mash into 1st with out any problem.

Hmm odd. mine is pretty smooth far as im concerned like it kicks down but its not super jerk.. now in my 03 i had, if you mashed the gas or even just lightly pushed down, it would kick down to 4th, then 3rd and depending on speed sometimes 2nd... and it would haul a$$ like no other... god i miss it hahah

Shakes head in jealousness!!

Want to do my scenario when you have a chance? Get on it pretty hard in 3rd gear, get up to about 50 and then hit it to the floor, and it should then kick to second. I am interested to know if my case is an isolated incident. I know that when hitting 3500 rpms or more from 1-2 gear there is also a lot of lag between that upshift. I know that is not just a problem that I have. A few others that I have talked to notice this as well.

Mine upshifts at around 15-1700rpm into 2nd, and 2000rpm into 3rd. If I hit it hard, it'll shift at 2200rpm from 1st to 2nd. There's really only a lag when it's cold. I'm easy on it then. Once warm, it shifts fine. A little firm, but these trannies are just like that. You should get the TV cable adjusted, also. It's made a difference. It'll kickdown earlier on the highway when the RPM's start to climb.
