^^^Yeah, That would be the ultimate upgrade combo.

I actually have a 242 from a ZJ just laying around, idk if that would Work though.
Got to love the LSD diff in snow, best there is

Even the open/open combo in my WJ did great in the snow while the TJ and LJ were getting stuck! Only thing that was concerning was that when the front dug and tried to grab it'd sometimes "hop" and create a hell of a banging/rattling. Only when the front tire(s) were hopping. This was when I was in 4 Part-Time or 4 Full Time, in the snow. What was happening was the front was trying to grab so it was loading the tire, then it'd break the snow pack and drop down and then bind/load up again. Then doing that on repeat. I was able to grab the front output yoke on the t-case and shake that thing around... up and down movement. I *don't* think it is supposed to have that kind of slop in it.

Nah, That slop should be there, any highway vibs?

^^^Time for a 247 upgrade, or if lucky only yoke or smaller parts, didnt you Get a new rebuildt front DS when you did the lift?

I agree with Thomahawk regarding the 247 being superior to the 242. Even if he is perhaps having fun with you here. Though I like being able to lock in 4wd-high, the LSD function is superior to the open diff of the 242. Running a torsen diff in the 4Runner I'm currently driving I've come to appreciate not having an open diff in the middle. It's as much night and day better than having an open diff in an axle. Still, the 242 is a great option. I'd just not prefer one over the 247 knowing what I know now.

The downside is waiting for it to respond to slippage where as the 242 is always splitting torque when engaged in full-time. That and the 247 requires a lot more upkeep. Of course, your 242 is not without its associated issues, as you are seeing.

I've been getting better with it the past couple days too. Learning how to finesse it in and out of 2wd/4wd with improvement. I do like having the Full Time option so I can not worry about binding on the road while the conditions aren't "bad" enough to warrant Part Time. Also part time doesn't like to steer, being it locked in the center.

Thats the Nice thing with the QD center, it doesnt look up and goes straight forward when throttled in curves, the locked ones keeps to "push" the front wheels straight forward.
When the QD seems to push out the rear so the front wheels goes into the curve not out. My old S10 Blazer was like locked, the QD behavious in a whole different matter, like you Are able to stear the rear end with the Throttle, like drifting cars.

Without binding as in full lock a lsd center diff will allow your vehicle to actually pull you through a turn, steering, yet allowing differential movement so you don't understeer as you would with full lock. I'm not sure if this is how QD works, but I know torsen diffs do this. Getting used to the idea of pushing through a turn instead of laying off the gas takes a little getting used to.

It pulls you in rather than push you out, hard for me to explain in my poor english.

Slathered some grease all over the double cardon joint. Hopefully that shuts it up.

Update, killed the sound for now. Splattered everywhere. Hah.

Update 2. Changed the oil again to start fresh. Going to see if that OPDA was the source of the metal.

Passenger side ground wire broke inside the boot as they all do. Spliced in some new wire and called it a day, easy fix.

Changing the oil has seemed to make the WJ unhappy. Since changing, 3 cold (20-40*) start ups have resulted in, assuming valvetrain, noise. Takes a minute or two now for it to stop. Was suggested that oil filter could have a bad back flow valve? Who knows. 1 step forward two steps back.

Secondly, I've mentioned this before but, my oil gets pitch black very quickly. The oil I took out had less than 900 miles and looked like it was 9000 miles old. Suggested to inspect the PCV system for leaks/clogs.
