Let's add this into the mix. Leaving school, I noticed the squeak/tap was intermittent a few seconds after start up and then become steady. Started driving home, came to a stoplight and the Jeep started to bog down at idle, around 250 rpms if I had to guess and was running rough and "chugging" and then died. Fortunately I was able to start it back up and make it a few more miles back home.

Read all the codes and this is what it came up with:
I think that sounds has to be that camshaft position sensor, it fits what is going on, IMO.

If I had to guess, I'd agree with your hypothesis. If I hadn't just taught class last night and therefore was not still in 'instructor mode', I'd have said something along the lines of 'Yup, slap a new one of those spinny timing dealies on there and see if she fires up!'.

T6 only comes in 5w-40 flavor (full synthetic). T5 is a semi synthetic and comes in 10w-30/10w-40 flavors. Its up to you what to run (personally I run T5 10w-30 but with you being up north I'd run T6 especially in this weather).

The problem I have with the OPDA is Chrysler already had the system we use in the Grand Cherokee but didn't use it in the wrangler. Why?

Why is T6 only in 5w-40? I like synthetic though, don't know why. Is that too thin? (Need to refresh my self on the oil weight nomenclature)

I wonder why they switched either, doesn't make sense.

Because these oils (Rotella) are primarily diesel engine oils. T3 is their regular 15w-40 and T6 is their synthetic line.

First number is the cold weight 5 and the second number, 40 is the hot weight. The WJ 4.0 calls for a 10 weight cold oil down to 0 if I'm remembering correctly and below 0 it calls for a 5 weight. Running either a 10 or 5 won't hurt anything (5 will pump faster) and the 30/40 won't hurt either although a 40 weight may cause your gas mileage to suffer a bit due to pumping losses with the heavier oil. If you have valvetrain noise and want those lifters quieter drop in a 40 weight oil.

Also, no Rotella is marked with the "energy conserving" label. I can't remember if Mobil 1 is or not so you may notice slightly worse gas mileage.

My 4.0 seems to like it. Every engine is different though.

Drove to class this morning, started fine. Went to leave and it would crank but not catch. It's done.

Called for a tow truck and they got it out of the parking spot, in the parking garage. Front tires of the ground and real wheels still on the ground. Well I forgot to put the transfer case in neutral. Tow truck driver, while pretty nice, didn't seem to think that was an issue and I didn't think much of it. Well too little to late, reading around, turns out that wasn't the best.

So the Jeep will get looked at Monday and they'll do a diagnostic thing and go from there. Already $200 in for the tow in the diagnostics. Hopefully they won't have to add a transmission into that repair list.

Couldn't get a loaner car because I'm not 21, nice and pissed there. I asked if I could buy a new Grand Cherokee for a week.

Got a call back from the dealership, fortunately, I was right. Bad cam sensor, causing the knocking/squeaking sound, and the no-start conditions. Along with the rest of the codes. Damage was only $250 all said in done. (Plus $85 for towing, but the insurance covered that.)

Fingers crossed this does it, and the transmission isn't messed up from towing.
