Wow, so I am way over curb. Pretty funny.

I am on the same tires still, they have been manageable around town. They aren't too much of an issue staying under 45-50. I've been trying to put $ aside for tires again this winter break. As it sits now, the faster I go, the more likely it is to shimmy. I can hit a bridge joint at 50 and probably not even feel a wiggle in the steering but, hit it again at 70+ and it'll shimmy.

Also put on new sway bar links for the front. Got them from a member on the forum, new, Moogs. Did that today, easy enough once I found a wrench to get in there for the top bolt.

If you jack the body up the sway bar drops down. Makes it easier.

Is it broken?

Get Those tires replaced when ever possible.
They have Been discused here for looong now, lol

I use to have mine around 33-35, but some tires, especially the nokian Winter tires have very much flex in the sidewall, then i was up to 40 something to Get them stabil, with my GGAT2's 70's profile was also quite smooth, i was very sattiesfiedand impressed with handling in highspeed curves due to the high profile, the tire ate the bumbs the stiff BDS setup didnt.
Totaly agree with billzcat That Those billy's handles better when used harder, driven faster over bumbs.
A correct tire (sidewall stifness and pressure) and springrate combo is important to Get a Nice and smooth ride.

I would have done that if I could have gotten both sides up at the same height. Didn't have any jackstands. Just got an adjustable wrench up there.

These stupid tires have just been a pain in the a$$. I'm just spinning my wheels with these still on the Jeep. (Ah-ha, a pun)

Last winter, had all that work done and didn't get a chance to do it. I just ignored them over the summer around town and also was working on paying off large credit card debt from the school year. I'm sure fresh treads will make a world of difference.

Did I ever post on here about how the tires will fold over themselves? I went over a curb at a 45 degree angle and the sidewall flexed to the point where the curb almost hit the rim! They were at proper pressure too!

Secondly, I took the spare of the Rubicon and put it up next to the WJ. Its a 245/75-16 and it looks big lol. Granted its not "on" the Jeep, just sitting next to it. Looks good!

Some more minor updates:

-Made it back from Home to School. Console says 21.1 MPG, by hand it's about 19.7, still not bad.

-Ordered IRO Upper Adjustable Control Arms. IRO had a free shipping coupon which saved $15.

-Going to order tires at the end of the month. I think I am going to stick with the 245/70-17 tire size which is a 30.5, maybe that rounds to a 31". I don't think any bigger is needed and it'd just harm what little fuel economy that I have around town. I am still going for the Silent Armours at the moment. Open to discussion again.

Good milage, and good desicion on the tires, Silent Armor Are great tires as far i can see, never tried them myself, i would have Go for 255's though, then they Will sit more flush with fender and look better, price should be about the same.

They'll rub the control arms even more so than the 245's already do. That's why I don't think I want them.

Great choice. Nothing but praise for the Silent Armors on my WJ. Firm sidewalls, confident handling, and never lacking for traction on/off road. Not "Silent" but they are reasonably quiet for a moderately aggressive AT.

That is good to hear! How many miles do you have on them now? I am just over 30k miles on these balloons for tires and they are only about ~25% tread left. Definitely did not hold up or last very long.

What do you think about the 255 vs the 245? I already have a tad bit of rubbing on the IRO LCA's because there is not a bend in them. I am thinking just stick with the 245's.

I would go with the 245/70-17 myself. There's no need to go wider unless you have a very specific need for floatation - and wider tires tend to have drawbacks like tracking in ruts as well as a greater impact on fuel mileage + acceleration (due to increased weight and wind resistance). Plus it fits in the spare tire well nicely.

As for the rubbing - mine will rub the rear shocks when wheeling although it seems to be a non-issue now with the Moabs - which have 1/4 less backspace than stock WJ 17s. If you are having rubbing issues, a set of 1" wheel spacers might be a good idea - and will fill out the wheel wells nicely. I've wanted a set for years now but haven't been able to justify it when there are other more pressing issues, both WJ- and life- related.
