You can have about 1 standard drink per hour(12 oz regular beer/ 5oz glass of wine/1.5oz shot) and remain below .08. That night we did a shot after we closed, and I had a strong drink while we counted out our tips which took like an hour... I have always been instructed by every attorney never to blow in a DUI situation if it could be questionable... If you blow and its under you get off, but if your even a hair over you have just given them all the evidence they need to convict you... Even though mine cost me a ton, I didnt blow, so they couldnt convict me of a DUI, so its not on my driving record and my insurance didnt go up...

Oh I see in this case. That makes perfect sense. I guess if you were sober and didn't have anything and the cop suspects you were drunk soley because other people in the car. And you know you didn't have anything, you could take the breath test, blow 0.0 and be okay?

I didn't realize you could get a 4.0 up to 83mph.

But if you really were going that much over the speed limit, I guess it's just a bad situation you kind of jumped into. Things happen, we learn from them, we move on, and hope to make less costly mistakes in the future. Good luck with this.

Yes, it snows in Texas.

In a closed controlled environment we got my WJ up past 100 no problem but it felt like it was near the end of it's limits. they can move pretty well

Exactly right, my step father is a criminal defense attourney, and im going to get my criminal Justice to be a cop so I have seen both sides of these things but the best advice I could give anyone is, If you have not done anything wrong and you have nothing to hide, let the police search your vehicle or let them give you a blow test, things will go smooth and you will be back on your way. But if you do have something to hide, like drugs in your vehicle, or you have been drinking, you have the right to refuse tests and you have the right to speak to an attourney, taking advantage of these rights will save your *** if you have something to hide. You will probably be arrested but not for Dui, or posession.

Haha. I've actually been up to about 110 in a deserted area. Just to see.

Yea. Its not gonna be a good situation but, I have learned by my mistake. Don't do stupid stuff on the highway. In all seriousness, it is a wakeup call like this that is going to prevent future costly mistakes etc.

I'm fairly certain my Jeep would implode if I tried to push it over 100mph. I made it to 98 once just to see what it could do, and that was not fun. I think that in ZJ's at least there's a speed limiter on 4.0 models at around 105mph. Not that I'd ever want to go faster than that. I sometimes hit 90mph when passing, but that's only because I have to press the OD off button and floor it to get around someone. It's insane. I think my only option is to replace the entire exhaust, regear, and pray. Lots and lots of prayer. The 4.0 should have come with 4.10's stock.

Best of luck in the future, and no more speeding.

I hit, 100 in my 4.0 TJ with 3.07's and 31's while on a pretty deserted highway on the way to my lake house. The only reason I got it going that fast is because I was going down a long steep hill

This depends on state... here in OH if you refuse a breath test at the station its an automatic one year license suspension... whether you were drunk or not, you can refuse in the field but not at the station. Its straight up the law here... now, i guess if you were legally drunk it might be better to give up the year than to get the DUI... but its worth lookin into your state laws before you decide to just flat refuse all the time
