When I do my oil pan, while I have it dropped what else should I do. I've been thinking about replacing the oil pump, and rod bearings while I'm down there. Any ideas on what else?

I was considering a high-volume pump but not sure it's worth it. There are incredibly mixed reviews about it.

My possible parts list (Parts in black I'm getting, In red I might not):
Spectra Premium Oil Pan $69.99
Felpro oil pan gasket set $28.19
Melling oil pump $26.99
Sealed power connecting rod set $25.49
Sealed power main bearing set $55.69

Total $206.35
$165.08 with 20% discount (I work at advance)

I could get away with just cleaning the pickup on the oil pump right? and at 132K my rod, and main bearing shouldn't be too bad. I can check once I pull the pan though.

Picked up, my oil pan, gasket, black rtv, and oil pump today for $106. May need to get a pick up tube too, but won't know for sure until I start working on it tomorow morning. My dad refuses to let me go out there and start on it now like I want cause his damn conversion van is in the way. I'm going to start at 8am and take tons of pics, and possibly do a write up. I work at 2pm, and it's going to be a late night so hopefully it won't be to physically demanding of a project.

P.S. Seems like my build thread is a monologue the past 2 1/2 pages.

Well, I felt bad for ya. I haven't ever dealt with this side of things on my Jeep before so I really have little info to provide. It's sort of learn as I go with the ZJ. What I have learned or read, I can offer advice on, but when I don't know...I just try to be quiet. I post too much as it is.

Yeah I knew NOTHING at 18 when I picked up my first ZJ. Now at 21 I'm fairly confident with anything it throws at me. I worked at a shop about a year ago, and now I work at Advance, and Petco. I've learned and I'm learning an insane amount everyday about my two favorite things, car, and animals. I'm also a Coast Guard reservist learning about the boats, and training every month I go to drills. I do the same thing, I post when I can help, and keep my mouth shut when I can't.

I got started on the ol oil pan. It's quite the PITA with the header and down pipe doing what it is.

You can kind of see, it says Borla on the tag.

Header gasket was installed the wrong way. It doesn't look bad, but I may replace it with a new to be safe.

The worst side:


That's all for the oil pan, I got stuck on getting that header off. It just doesn't want to come off all the way. It will only slide out about an inch, then stop.

Here are some pics of my headlight harness upgrade.

These are the high and low relays as well as the power wires that run to said relays.

My 12g wire soldered directly into the little plugs in the bulb harness.

The wires that run to the high and low on the stock harness to the relays. Right now they're just little connectors slid into the harness, but eventually If like to pull apart a bulb and solder those wires to it. Still keeping the ability to use stock bulbs should I desire, but I'd feel alot better if they were hard wired.


That's it for today, hopefully after work I can get some more done since my jack decided to stop working tonight.

Got alot more done tonight. Unfortunately my sister took her camera with her this afternoon, and I didn't take any pictures. Pulled the shocks, sway bar links, and steering stabilizer off for the front of the lift I'm putting on while I have the jeep in the air. Got the oil pan off, but haven't pulled it out yet. Tomorow I should wrap the oil pan up, and hopefully put the 4" lift on the front too. I work everyday next week so progress with the build will most definetly get slowed down. On a side note after a long cold *** day, I finally get to relax and put a few down.

It really does suck working in the cold. Its been a solid 20 degrees at least every evening. I recently pulled my oil pan and everything to replace rear main seal, so i know what your goin through. Its a bit**

Yeah, I got alot done this morning before work. I had to weld a nut to the axle side bolt on the track bar just to get it off. I was almost late to work though haha. I'm riding to Lynchburg for xmas dinner at my older brothers, then I have a 7 day work week. Not sure if I'll be able to finish the lift and everything by next week.

Honk if you see me while your in the area!! Its the only black dub in lynchburg thats lifted with a roof rack and grille guard haha.

I would if I was driving. Unfortunately my dad is driving everyone up there in one vehicle. I'm trying to head up there solo sometime soon though. My stepdad lives in Madison Heights and that's where I'm at most of the time while I'm in the Lburg.
