Reccomend an air filter
Thats under $50-ish. Which filter you use, and thoughts on FRAM and K&N air filters also.

if you are going with a disposable paper one like FRAM, get an STP from autozone, or Wix. The STP is better made, a lot of them have a metal band about them, more solid and sturdy, filter better from what i've read, and are less expensive. Fram is getting lower in quality, but are popular so now you are paying for name.

You could always get the Rusty's Airtube and buy a filter at your local shop. Just a thought.

Go with Amsoil Better than K&N Doesn't use oil and is a Dry type filter.
Ridin' Around is an Amsoil Dealer he can hook you up with one.

Yes, the only reason I have K&N is because it came with my FIPK. But Amsoil filters are amazing.

looked at the rustys air tube. Just take out the box for the filter and use your current air tube and cone filter if thats what you are wanting to do. But just a note: it is somewhat pointless. The accordian disrupts airflow, you want as smooth as possible/and or swirled, not turbulant. Smooth contributes to the rate air can be sucked in. Thats what a throttle body spacer is for. They swirl the air AFTER it has passed through the throttle body. Not saying get a spacer (not worth the money for what they do). And without a heat shield you are sucking in more hot air from the engine with the cone filter, not cold air. There is a reason why the companies that make cold air intakes are expensive. They do it right. Molds aren't cheap, they cost in the millions of dollars for one. Then how many makes and models do those companies make CAI's for? Plus making the heat shields specifically for your engine bay. NOW, on that note. I'll be making my own CAI tomorrow using black dwv pipe from lowes. Not the WJ is easier because the TB is mounted sideways, so you dont have that silly flat collecting point like the ZJ's. So in your case befumo, you could cut the stock arm after the accordians and put pipe on that way. Then you dont have to figure out angles and bends. Go to a sheet metal place, grab some for cheap, custom your own heat shield, amsoil cone filter (
contact me or Gabe) and you are good to go for just a little over your original price on $50. I'd say $80 at most you'd spend.

K&N's flow so much air for a reason; they let through a crap ton of dirt particles. I'm too lazy to find it but there was an article on how well filters actually filtered. The K&N had some good airflow but was terrible when it came to filtering dirt.
IMO, stick with a paper mopar brand and change them when you need to. |

K&N is just fine. The trick to them is that you have to oil them just right. Over oiling the oil can get sucked in and gum up your TB. But you have to super oil it to do that. They are suppose to be of a pink color actually, not red. Under oil it and you are going to be letting in a lot of dust and yuck. K&N definately flows a lot more than most filters, but dont filter quite as well, this is true. BUT, that is why K&N can claim higher horse power increases than other companies. We americans like to be lazy and complain about things like having to clean and oil a filter. It just depends on if you want better protection, or more airflow. But, like we've been discussing, amsoil seems to be the best of both worlds. Slightly less airflow than K&N (I think, I can't remember the numbers), but better filtration. So, happy shopping!
