Recall

Has anybody seen the news about a supposedly recall for WJ gas tanks that Chrysler is refusing to say that it is an actual recall? Wondering if this information was true and should I be worried driving my jeep with my 6month old?

No, the NHTSA asked Chrysler to perform a voluntary recall and Chrysler rightfully refused.

The whole premise of the recall is bull****. At this point a recall would be pointless anyways.

Unless you get rammed in the rear while your Jeep is stopped by a vehicle going 50mph+ you have nothing to worry about. Then again if your in any vehicle and get rammed in the rear by another that is doing 50mph your chance of survival is almost nill anyways regardless if it's a Jeep or a $200,000k Bently.

Your worried. Something like 3.5M vehicles and 51 incidents. Thats .0014572%. You will probably get struck by lightening 10 times or win the the powerball and lotto in the same week before this would affect you.

So the NHTSA just arbitrarily picked the WJ to recommend a recall with no data to support a safety concern. Sounds reasonable.

it's not just the WJ. I'm moving this thread to Grand General with the other 12341656246235 threads on this subject.

The WJ is the only Grand Cherokee model covered, so moving it to a less relevant forum is a great idea?

It's for 1993-2004. They were ZJs up until 1999.

Well so it is 93-04. Why didn't you just say so in the beginning?

If you really want to get your jimmie's rustled, why don't you Google 'GM side saddle gas tank lawsuit/recall'.

Didn't they rig the news stories to make sure the tanks went up?
