lol i know right. i'm thinkin over spring break about adding a piece of sheet metal to the back and shape it to make it fit then bondo-ing it sanding it for a good finish then painting it. maybe truck bed lining it to hide the fact its been modified because i wont be able to match the two finishes properly

Heres some night shots of the bezel mod. looks ok from a distance. i'm painting the inside black soon once its dry out. then over spring break hoping to mold in a piece of sheet metal to make it seem i didnt have to trim the bezel at all and then bedlining it to make the sheet metal and bezel look to be one piece. picked up a locking gas cap too.

mine for some reason came no where near close to fitting. the cap wouldnt even seal properly and it didnt fit properly so i ended up just cutting out the whole back piece to make it fit. idk it seems for some zj's it works and others it doesnt. but i get to play with some bondo and bedliner and sheet metal over spring break and make it look correct. i'll have fun haha

ok so i'm impatient and didnt want to wait til spring break or later to attempt to make the bezel look better. so i went to home depot and picked up some 28gauge sheet metal and some tin snips and some black spray paint. cut out the rough shape i needed and trimmed it until it fit right. painted it black and then put everything back in. oh picked up a locking gas cap and used rubber undercoating behind the sheet metal to seal it and to prevent rattling noise. heres a few pics.

i plan on taking it out again over spring break and adding another coat of paint or two on the sheet metal to make it look better.

just got some GREAT news. on the way home to kansas city from manhattan my dad called me and i'm finally getting an alignment and getting a ds so i will have 4WD again! made me super happy. but then i started getting death wobble almost immediately after said phone call haha. that straight up sucked cuz i still had an hour left of highway driving to do to get home then once i got home my dad and i went to pick up a ds but found out the store needs to order it. so i'll have it by friday. mentioned to dad that i want to get a KOR rad support. you know what he says? "we should just get a winch instead. with how much wheeling you like to do, plus pulling other things, lets just get a winch it will be better than just having snatch points" OMG i cant believe he just said that. so anyways, anyone have any ideas for a winch mount i can use with my stock bumper? even maybe a hidden mount behind the bumper? and any opinions on the best/least expensive winch? so far i'm looking at the rugged ridge HD 8500 lbs winch for 300 and the smittybuilt XRC 8 also for 300. i also found a winch mount plate at csl offroad for 190. heres the link. lets hear opinions

That is the exact winch mount I was going to link you to, but you already found it Also, that is a good winch that you have picked out.

good to hear. i found another winch mount from another company. but its like 300 and looks like absolute **** in my opinion. but i'm still blown away that he's gonna let me buy a winch. he's not a fan of me spending money on my jeep but i think he's realized that its going to happen with or without his blessing haha. i mainly like the csl mount cuz it looks way better and has light brackets from what i can tell and the rugged ridge has light mounts on the fairleads too so i find those two little extras as pretty nice benefits.

make a custom bumper or buy one. the bumper that i am making in my build thread is only gonna cost me about 50-75 dollars( with a school discount on the metal). and i am putting a winch plate on, but i will most likely not put a winch on. i have a come-a-long and that is good enough for the wheeling that i do. it is not easy to mount a winch onto a stock bumper, you will have to cut the bumper up or take it off completely at the very least.
