well i was reminiscing today about my old car. it was a 1987 Pontiac Fiero with a 2.5L 4cyl. i had put on performance exhaust, short ram intake, lowered it, custom switch panel and a pioneer head unit. We got it when i was in 8th grade for 300 with a blown head gasket with only 118xxx miles on it. my dad and I spent our evenings and weekends rebuilding it. we got a new block and put in all new suspension and steering and redid the interior. i had a set of rims waiting to be put on but i sold them because i had decided i was selling the car to get the jeep. i planned on getting it painted midnight blue and putting in a 3.8L supercharged v6. I loved that car and i def miss it. maybe one day i'll get another one. heres a few pics of it.
heres my dad working on the engine

here it is next to my buddies old neon

next is a pic i took after work one day

then a pic of the front with all my lights on (headlights, ambers, and custom fogs)

and then the last one is me infront of my baby at a fiero show that was in kc. i won second place. not bad for the first show i ever took it to. sadly 2 weeks later i sold it.

cant tell you how much i miss this car. maybe i'll get another one in the future when i'm makin bank

well i havent done anything recently to the jeep. just waiting on my rear track bar bracket and 2.2 steering stabilizer to show up on my doorstep. i'm pretty happy with the lift so far, i havent had any issues with rubbing even with the rear axle off center and so far i've made a couple 2hr trips home from school and no DW either. i feel lucky to say the least lol. this weekend i'm throwing my buddies 33s on it to see how it looks and i'll take some pics

i have a question from yal. i'm plannin on putting in my new SS soon but i've been hearing a loud pop/knock in the steering up front. its mainly when i turn and its quite unsettling to hear. i replaced my track bar bushing up front when i put in the relocate bracket and am wondering if i didnt get the correct thickness bolt for the bushing i have so its causing the axle to pop left and right? whatever it is i want to fix it soon before something worse happens. any ideas let me know please

Haha, your swaybar disco'd itself!! Mine had done that a few times. Once offroad, it sounds like a gunshot when the ball popped out. I had it on video, you could hear the bang, lol.

I hate those links. Do yourself a favor and either upgrade to disconnects, or get a set of 93-95 links. They don't have the ball joint at the top, just a stud that goes through the swaybar with a bushing on either side of it, like the way your front shock top mount is.

All you need to do is drill out the tapered hole in the swaybar a bit. I did mine, I actually only had to do one side, the other was worn enough for the stud to pass through.

Love the stair crawlin pic! Actually, that's pretty handy that you can get your front end under that overhang. Great if you need to work on the motor in the rain, lol, or get underneath to change t-case fluid or something like that.

Hey Purple Z, can you tell me about the front trackbar bracket and why you decided to do it?

Also did you just put the front springs in the rear, no other mods?

well after i did the BB in the front the trackbar was causing the axle to be too close to the drivers side of the jeep. this was causing me to rub really bad on turns. i knew i needed to either buy an adjustable trackbar or buy a relocation bracket. being a college student with no time for a job.... 40 bucks was way more feasable than 150. it uses a bolt in the stock trackbar location and another bolt that i had to drill a hole for to mount it snug to the frame. then it has a new location hole for the trackbar to bolt in. so far its worked pretty well. i replaced the bushing for the trackbar because it was destroyed.

On the back, when i went to install the BB in the rear i realized there was no spring post showing and the hole in the BB meant to go over the spring post was way too huge and i didnt feel comfortable using it for the rear lift. i then found a set of front springs off a zj on ebay for 30 bucks. so i bought them and used them to do the front>rear swap. essentially i have a BB up front and f>r out back. the only mods i had to do for it was get extended rear sway bar links and i also picked up a set(4) of skyjacker hydro 7000s for shocks. i hope that answered your questions if not just let me know

Yeah man, that's awesome info. Same thing here, full time college student on a budget.

I have a 2" BB and put some 31s on my Jeep and they rub like crazy! This is exactly what I need. In all the FAQs no one ever mentioned needing the front track bar bracket. Which one did you get?

yeah somehow all the little things that make a huge difference get left out hahaha. i bought one from a local 4x4 shop and if i remember correctly it was from skyjacker. its made a world of difference. if you do it i'd suggest picking up a new track bar bushing from your local auto parts store. chances are its never been replaced and might need it. for the rear you can get away with not buying extended sway bar links or a track bar bracket for the back. the only reason i bought extended links for the back is because when i went to remove the factory ones so i could install the lift they got destroyed because i used too much air pressure on the impact gun. and i feel ya on the rubbing. it gets very annoying. i'm upping to 32s this summer and hoping they dont rub lol. i hope this helped man good luck
