I am going to extend my bumpstops, or make the contact pad higher before GSW.

Summit Racing rocks. I ordered a TransGo shift kit at lunch time yesterday, and it arrived before I left the house this morning.

If you run into the problem I had the other day of finding long enough 8mm bolts for the front bump stops once extended, you can run a 5/16-18 tap through the existing nuts and just use 5/16" bolts which were much cheaper and easier to find. It works great.

I have heard good things, and hate the way this thing shifts. The instructions look pretty simple for the Valve Body parts, but I have a question about the resistor. It sounds like you don't actually cut any wires, you just remove the sheathing from two wires on the harness (external passenger side of tranny) and solder the resistor in between the two. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

That is a good tip, thanks. I will post pics of what I end up doing.

Do you plan on being in Moab anytime April 20th-23rd for Easter Jeep Safari? I should be there early morning on the 20th, and we're leaving the 24th. So far the only runs we have planned are a Hells Revenge night run with Superchips on the 20th, and Golden Spike with RR4W on Big Saturday.

when i bought mine (this was a while ago) i went back and forth after reading some things on the resistor portion of the kit and actually never installed that part, i meant to go back later and solder in the resistor if need be, but havent, i cant quite remember the details but there was question to whether doing that was more for performance vs transmission health. i was going for health, wiht just the hardware in the valve body i had a good improvement over stock. i remember people complaining the resistor made the shifts harsh, or too firm, at least until the computer "learned" some of that away. also if you run any sort of tuner like a superchips you cant have the resistor in there.

@ Smunns: My wife and I will be there the 22nd and 23rd to watch people run some of the fun obstacles. I may do a night run, but haven't decided yet. I am chasing a front end noise that has me nervous. I need to figure it out for sure before GSW. We will likely head into one of the parks (Arches or Canyonlands) on the 24th for some hiking. BTW, your rig is looking good in the bumper area.

@Patrick: Thanks for the feedback. I may just leave that alone for now and just do the internals. I would like a Superchips in the future. I would have one already if it would allow me to alter the tire size on a 99. I am jealous of the winch, I need to save for one. I want to get a synthetic line winch.

I have one more front lower control arm to rebuild. I have been replacing the RK joints with Johnny Joints and an RK poly on the body side. I will most likely wait until after Easter Jeep Safari for that, but need to do it before GSW.

The look massive. I'm not sure why.

The fuel filter is in, and the old one looked pretty dirty. I am glad I changed it.

I have too much going on this week. I will likely wait until after EJS to change the trans fluid, filters, and install the shift kit.

Have fun at EJS! I am thinking of making the trip for GSW in June. Take some pictures for all of us that can't attend.

Will do. Hopefully you can make it down for GSW. I will need to do a May run sometime to figure out the last few things before GSW, we should do a northern run. I'll send you some info when I have something planned (I guess it will have to be somewhat lower elevation though...there is still so much snow everywhere I like to wheel).

Thinking bout just going for it and plan a Moab trip next year to EJS,gas prices or not,got my Moab trail maps out and studying them tonight after work, trying to talk some friends into helping plan and go but most dont want to trailer so far,i will have to drive mine since i sold my tow rig,i've been wanting to do this for so long but just finally getting enough vac. time from work to be able to go,if my old factory would not have closed doors 5 years ago i would have already have done this,it sucks losing 4 and 1/2 weeks vac. time.
