Glad you and Emmy are OK. Any idea what caused this now that you pulled the calipers (condensation, corrosion, contamination, etc.)?

Glad to hear you guys are OK. Crazy how stuff happens huh? Reminds me of the time I blew my rear pulling out of my driveway.

Thanks guys

I have no idea what caused it. The seals aren't torn, just leaking severely. Now I am dealing with air in the abs unit again though... What a pain. I guess I'll bleed it some more this weekend.

Congrats man you definitely deserved GCOTY yours is very tastefully done, embodies the values of the grand cherokee where you can still comfortably drive it every day and to the trail when you wanna go, You've got plenty of awesome pics and vids of it wheeled, and its one of the cleanest kept trail rigs out there.

Thanks guys. The calipers are doing their job now, no more leaks from there.

I am going to separate the Master Cylinder from the booster this weekend. I have another leak somewhere...I am loosing fluid but have no visible signs of leakage. I wonder if all of the bleeding we did finally send the MC over the edge. I am hoping to find fluid in the booster...at least I would know that I found my next problem.

All I can say is WOW, the MC really did need to be replaced. When I removed it, I could see a lake of brake fluid in the booster.

I was amazed at how much fluid actually came out of the booster:

I bled the MC and got everything back together. The Booster was only a year old. But with all that fluid sitting in it, I decided to replace it also. The fluid looked pretty dark, I assume that it has been eating away at everything in the booster. Rather than rinse it out and risk it...a reman unit is now in place.

Now if I can just get the air out of the ABS unit, the brakes will be 100% again.

What an ordeal, Will! So what does bleeding air out of the ABS unit entail? Do you have to bleed from all four calipers?

You have to use a scanner (not just a code reader, a full scanner...luckily my bro has one) to actuate the ABS valves and bleed the air out of the ABS, then re-bleed the lines. Really, you have to go through this sequence several times to get all of the air out. I am going to start buying brake fluid by the gallon
