We had a pretty impressive Trail Maintenance day today out at Walker Valley ORV near Burlington WA. This particular location had been pointed out by the "greenies" as a sensitive area. So naturally we grouped together and worked closely with the DNR to remedy the situation. Getting the excavator up the trail was quite impressive but a few pictures from today.

Loading up a Grand full of trail rock...

My Grand Loaded to the gills....

Teamwork

Finished product

Hey guys, Little late on the update

8.8............. check
detroit........ check
4.56 gears... check

To do:
Mount arb compressor
throw front d30 w/ ARB w/ 4.56 gears under

Everything was pretty smooth on the gear install and setup of the 8.8. The IRO brackets are amazing and line up every time. A nice bonus to the IRO kit is that the rear Track bar has two mounting holes. I used the highest one and was able to get rid of the rinky dink RC drop bracket and use the factory track bar. Good stuff.

Brake lines, I used a Trailer line w/ 3/16 male and female end. Attached this to the Stock Ford line. Found at my local napa dealer. A little expensive but worked well and now brake line will be plenty long for long arms.

Will get pictures up sometime.....

Hmm, I didn't know that about IRO's 8.8 bracket kit. Good to know. I've been following this build for awhile now, and it's still very, very nice...

8.8 Gear pattern pictures. The gear pattern is awesome looking. I have done tons of gears and the 8.8 has been one of the easier.

Upon first test drive, the backlash set in and was way too loose. Went back through the entire thing again and tightened it up to .007 backlash. Seems really smooth and quiet.

The locker on the other hand is mighty loud. seems to pop and make quite a bit of noise. Granted it has been a long time since i have driven a vehicle with a locker in the rear. (used to spools) Hopefully it '' breaks in'' a little more.

Here you can see the upper track bar mount:

Bad picture of rear end under the truck:

Another thing that caught me off gaurd was the way the springs sag. I have the RC 4'' lift springs. I thought they were saggy last fall so i put an extra isolator in it, It sat fine. So than i thought adding the 8.8 would net me the .75 of lift most claim. Well it still sat low in the ***. So i went ahead of added the isolator again. Sits about where i had it before. Point of the paragraph is the RC springs suck and I would recommend a higher quality spring for future purchases.

Today put a good amount of work into wiring and setting up the ARB.
I ended up going with CKMA12 compressor. This will be sufficent for airing up tires at the end of the wheeling days which should be nice.

Mounted the Compressor under the passenger seat. This was the best possible spot after racking my brain for almost a week on where to mount it. Under the hood would have been ideal but i couldn't find a good place, I removed the cruise control and thought about building a bracket for that area. But that still wasnt gonna work that well.
Pics:
I Tried to run the wiring cleanly. It will be much easier to find any problems if they arise.

Ended up Getting this amp/sub for free from a guy who just had more money than he knew what to do with or he was just dumb.

Basic system, The wiring was already in the truck from the previous owner. Real basic but it sounds solid.
I bought the Box at a garage sale for 3$ which was awesome. So it wont help me get down the trail but it is fun.
