UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: cheers:

I'm Home from a 7month deployment to various sites through out the middle east. It was awesome to be home for the holidays and to have friends around and eat good food.

My jeep was just the way I left it.... beautiful.
1 flat tire
1 bad battery(yellow top)
bad brake light

So over all it was in pretty good shape. My wife was able to take the battery to autozone and tap into the 3 yr warrenty. Apparently she didn't shut the door well enough and it wore the battery down. No big deal.

Bead of the tire was filled with mud and was easy to clean out.

Have not tapped into the brake light yet.

THe last trip before I left on deployment, I broke the steering box bolts. I believe having the ARB, and going lock to lock in the snow was the wear that broke the bolts.

You can see the disconnected box:

I ended up replacing the broken box with a Junkyard replacement for 25$

I knew a steering box brace was needed.
I always build my own stuff and this was my take on a steering box brace. It was good to get fabbing again and it is fun to see how much parts cost if you actually purchased them new.
Ok enough on that here is what the brace looked like before paint/install.

Let me know what you think

I went wheeling on the 1st. Had a great trip. No breakage and got everyone through the trails. I was a trail leader and it was soupy. A little adjustment period getting used to trails.
No real pictures as the Ol' Grand station wagon was leading everyone through the trails.
Here is a photo with my beautiful wife.

I realized that my rear springs are shot. They sag, and not ideal for the back with the swing away, recovery gear and bumper.

I was able to order 5.5'' springs from IRO with the free shipping.

I got my new rear springs in tonight, these are the 5.5'' IRO springs.

The old springs are 4'' rough country's that have seen better days, with 2'' spacer.

THis picture is evidence of how worn everything is.

Hey guys, Went wheeling today and had a great day. It was designated as a work party day. As a work party we do work for the DNR to maintain the public land. We mostly work on blocking "illegal" bypasses and draining water/building water bars.

The jeep ran great for the 1st 3/4 of the day. The snow was fresh about 8'' and it was a ton of fun to blaze through the trails as the 1st leader.

I believe my "fusable" link in my front end has became my Ring and pinion. I think it has once again bit the dust. Bringing some hesitation of this front end. The ARB i think will be ok. Pretty irriatated with the whole thing. Details to follow tomorrow.

This is my new stance with the 5.5 inch rear springs

Great pictures! I've always wanted to wheel in Washington. It's hard to top Colorado though lol.

What is your front axle setup? Based on your drop down info, it looks like the shafts or U joints should be the weak point unless they've been upgraded?

I guess i didn't update the drop down. I posted it here in the build thread but I did upgrade to superior axle shafts and 760x u joints with full circle clips.

My ring and pinon is shot. No chipp's just teeth breakage.
Any thoughts on this?
anyone else have issues like this with their d30?

I blew up a 4.10 R&P, but I suspect that was because of a poor set-up by the PO. My advice is to buy a set of Yukon's, they have a lifetime warranty, get them cryo'd and FIRI. Obviously you have a weak link, but that's your best bet to keep it alive until you can build something stronger. Do you plan on going bigger in the tire department? If not, a built D44 is probably your best bet, otherwise tons or a hybrid.
