So after looking around are realizing i have no build or tech thread on this site. The people around here seem to be more my style and chill, I'm not building a full on crawler just a very capable full bodied rig. I've done the samurai thing and the toyota thing but now I am into creature comforts and reliability.
So a little history:
I bought a 1993 Grand approx. 1 year ago
Bone stock with nothing done to it.
1993 Limited
126k miles
3.73 gears
46RH tranny
First Trip out, Bone stock aired down tires. Did really well. My local stomping grounds is Walker Valley ORV park in NW WA.

That hill looks sick. Did you try it and/or make it with stock tires??

I'll be subscribing if this build gets good, as I too am 93 5.2 owner.

4'' rough country lift
IRO Track bar double shear
home made disconnects
Second wheeling adventure, no tires but lift and it did help tons.

First picture i have after going to
33x12.5 15 Cooper STT's
15x8 crager soft 8's
This tire set is supurb I am impressed with on road manners and the off road grip. We run lots of rocks and mud up here and they just play hook up. For being open F/R people are just impressed. I usually air down to 15 psi trail and run them at 35 on street.

OBA Was next and it just turned out great and I love having it if We need it on the trail.
The tank started out as just a haggered old bed side tank I picked up at a local Hot rodders swap meet for 5 bones. Welded on some stands to the bottom and just run it all the time.

Yeah man i thought I would post it in several posts to really orientate where I am in the build and process.
So During the summer I wheeled the Snot out of the rig. Not doing alot more that i had. I am Navy so I was deployed for some months than got back and motivated. (actually that seems how it always goes is in spurts of 4 months)
These trails are not for the faint of heart. Evens Creek Aug 2009
Wheeled open went everywhere not one strap needed.

Met a buddy with a Stock ZJ, He wanted to wheel I said lets do it and he did very well stock tires and no lift needed a strap only a few times.
He now just wheels it hard and keeps up pretty darn well.

Didn't Take a bunch of pictures of build process,
2'' square 3/16 mounted to the crossmember mount with extra mounts and rear sleeved.
Saved the rockers alot, they are similar to Kevin's At least what i can see i haven't ever seen them in person.

They are great for High lift jack points and pivoting around stumps/rocks on these tight PNW trails. I wouldn't wheel with out them again.

Want to make another set of sliders for a fellow WA ZJ?

Ive done more body damage to my jeep from using my high lift, then actually hitting rocks and stumps on the trail.

looks good so far looks like some nice trail damage as well:shhh:

Roof rack, This is something that I was bouncing around alot, the wife thinks they look lame but i like the function.
Tried to appease her and make it look good and i succeded or at least close.
3/4 Square tubing
1/8 wall
approx 52 ft
Its a pain to weld. Easy to bend. I used all factory mounting holes. The tubing flexed enough that i was able to follow the roof line really making this thing look good. I'm proud of this one. It took alot of time.

rear bumper

Rear Bumper was needed. Tired of the old cover coming off all the time and needed more protection for lights and rear end body panels.
Swing away tire carrier will be going on within the next few days.
The bumper now is fully finished/painted w/o tire carrier cause i neeeded to wheel it today.
Full 3/16 plate
2x4 3/16 slide into factory holes.
3x5 3/16 base
few pictures of the build

The time now is 09:50 PM.
