Project Iron Rock build thread

Hey guys,

I just received my IRO 3.5" lift a couple of days ago along with a front Dana HD 30 u-joint axle shaft and inner sleeve upgrades. I will be fitting all but the axle sleeves as I have no welder, and to be honest can't weld for toffee so will be taking that part to a shop later on.
I need to get teh axle shafts in first as my duff CV joint is clicking when in full lock/full throttle when wheeling in the desert and I am just sick of worrying about it on long drives.

I have dropped a few pics below and will take a few of the build as I progress.
This is the full kit I have

Some other pics will come shortly as I will be doing the install tomorrow, so expect a few more by Monday or Tuesday.

Wish me luck!
And this is my Jeep as ti is now with a 2"BB, Kumho 31" MT's and 15" GT alloys along with a few other goodies.

I have to give you kudos for the rims. I like alloys myself.

Thanks guys,

I will be heading out today to grab a 36mm ratchet head as I though I had one but don't! I will also (hopefully) be grabbing a set of jack stands as I don't have any yet and they are like rocking horse crap in my region!!!

Yes I will be getting bigger tires, but not just yet, theKumho's are quite new so I will have to wait for that.
The HP 30's are good, but I am not in a place where these kinds of rigs are common, and if they are they have been abused big time so i wouldn't trust them from a JY!
Thanks on the rims. Alloys are the obvious choice for sand wheeling due to weight, plus they look nice!

Thanks a bunch guys, nice to get some positive feedback on the rig!

Hey Matt. It is a cheapo one from a local shop. Not very powerful, but it gives me a little more light in the desert at night. I am looking to swap it out for a 52 LED lightbar for the roof soon though.

I got the lift fitted but couldn't find a 36" socket with a 1/2" drive so had to order one from Ebay of all places. It turns out that the 36 is more rare than teh jack stands!!!

Pics will come soon!

OK guys, here are some pics and my little write up so far.
Stripping and fitting the front end. You can see the ragged old Rubicon Express shocks and spacers on the left and right side of me. I had some trouble installing the pass. side coil and for the life of me couldn't figure ou twhy the hell it wouldn't fit. I then realized I still had the spacer still on the post.

This is my grandfather fitting the IRO double shear track bar extended bracket. Extremely stout peice of kit and a hell of a lot stronger looking and feeling than the stock one!

This is the final install pic I took of the rear end being installed.

A shot of the drivers side lifted. not a great shot due to space but shows how the rig sits with the 31" Kumho MT's. It looks and feels a great deal higher as I found out my 2" lift was actually only 1.5" so I ended up with 2" more lift as oppose to 1.5" Still feels great though!

The final shot of the bulldog in the sand after the install. Rides great and looks the part too! More pics to come of the axle shaft install and I now have to replace my tranny mount. NICE!!!

Love the Plat. Euro markers are so much better looking than the USDM stuff.
