Project Hiatus WJ

Hi, after seeing so many projects on this site, I've decided to add mine for s**ts and giggles. I bought my 99 WJ back in 2014 from a small town in Texas. It was owned by an old man who put about 60k miles on it and its my daily driver. It has a 4.0L, Selec-Trac (previously had Quadra-Trac II), and the tow package. I want to keep it as a dual offroader and daily for now. I have many plans but money and time isn't as plentiful as I'd like, hence the name. Here are some of them.

Phase I
  • ✓Install 2” IRO lift from Kolak
  • ✓Install Leveler spacers
  • ✓Install longer sway bar connectors
  • ✓Add Rubicon Rims
  • ✓Add Wheel spacers
  • ✓New tires (Cooper Discoverer ATP tires)
  • ✓Replace speakers
  • ✓Repair blend doors
  • ✓Install sound deadening material in doors
  • ✓Install K&N filter
  • ✓Replace Brake Pads

Phase II
  • ✓4 hole fuel injectors
  • ✓Upgrade front brakes
  • Upgrade rear brakes
  • ✓New Radio
  • ✓Backup camera
  • ✓Swap out 247 Transfer Case for a 242
  • Install new front drive shaft
  • Install Airaid throttle body spacer
  • A/C System (Replace foam seals, Replace air vents, Replace A/C and Heater core)
  • Replace light housing (front and rear)
  • Add CB Radio

Phase III
  • Install Snorkel and new breather tubes
  • Move washer bottle to engine bay
  • 4” long arm Lift kit
  • Sound deadening material all through the interior
  • Install Heater core into seats
  • Paint and install 2004 Grille
  • New door seals
  • Upgrade steering dampeners
  • Upgrade throttle body
  • Add KC Lights

Phase IV
  • Regear axles
  • Upgrade Ignition coil?
  • RCV axle upgrade?
  • Fender Flares
  • New Bumpers
  • Front - hitch reciever
  • Rear - tire carrier
  • Repaint
  • Gas tank tuck

Already looks better though, dig around sometimes people upgrade and then decide they didn't like so you can get bargains on parts.

PilotActor: I've kept my eye on the on classifies and craigslist. Sometimes ebay will have a nice deal on something I need.

I am currently siting on a refurb TC 242 that I'm waiting on a good weekend to tackle.

Before I tackled mine I went and bought one of these ratchet wrenches and it made taking out those bolts a breeze.
I highly recommend one to everyone.

oh evil Dave hahaha

While I do have time this weekend, the wife has been bugging me to replace my radio with a newer one so she can listen to her music on road trips. She doesn't like the line-in cassette tape. I have to agree with her it sounds like crap. So I'm going to give it shot this weekend. I have everything I need for the Double Din upgrade, I think. I've already replace the speakers on it. I guess I'll see.

Finally got the radio in and work (mostly), I'm having trouble getting the steering wheel controls to work. I bought the Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface but it doesn't seem to work. I'll have to do some more research. Also, I need to do some more trimming to get unit to sit better. But I'm happy with it so far.
