Since the rear was sagging, and it was time to put the rear axle in I decided to put some new springs in at the same time, which are actually now for sale. $80 shipped if you want them, 6" rear springs.

Time to put the 8.8 in!

What a breaker bar will do to an impact socket.... (If you're name is pat and you drive a ZJ on 35's.)

Axle is in!!

Hey Pat looks good man. Just talked to you today on the phone about my future install of my zj 5.5 long arm kit. Check out my build and see how it all comes together. Sometime I should reinforce my axels like you did to your d35.

I got home one night and the Jeep was making a weird rattling noise coming from the belt, so I opened the hood to see the idler pulley RED HOT, the bearing was completely cooked, and missing a few balls. Time to replace that.

I got pulled over here in MN due to the bumper height laws, so I made a pretty beefy drop bumper. It mounts into the reciever hitch, and also mounts to the side of it. I added on a piece of reciever tube on the exterior so I could still haul things. I made it in welding class, so it was still back when I was learning to weld. They still look pretty decent, not porous, and extra hot

It was now time for a new project in welding class. I wanted/needed rock sliders. Unfortunately I did not have the money for all new material so I had to use the scrap steel the school had. The Main bars are made from an old workout machine, 1/4" wall steel, and the bars are made from 1/8 steel pipe. Kickers are 1" x .5" Steel, three per rock slider.

I Painted them Silver right away, and quickly decided I liked black a lot more. They have been black ever since.

Here are some picture of my first real wheeling trip.

5.5" short arms, 35" tires. I actually did pretty well with the setup I had.

A guy we were wheeling with was going through some rocks, caught his rear driveshaft on the rocks and busted up the companion flange yoke on his 8.8 The XJ Cherokee was sitting on 6.5" I think, with 35's. Iron Rock Long Arm Kit.
I was so excited, I was the only one with a winch, I pulled him out of the rocks. Worked great!

Here was our view of the Iron Rock guys campsite. You can see the black ZJ and the White WJ.

And our campsite

I decided after my first wheeling event in Dresser, WI that I needed more flex. Awesome enough, this was around the end of the school year and I started working for IRO shortly after.

After working for IRO for a while I ended up buying a set of adjustable front LA's (LA Upgrade. I did the upgrade because all I really needed was the arms). The upgrade is for people that already have all the other components like springs, trackbars, swaybar links, ect...

IRON ROCK OFF ROAD: ZJ Critical Path Long Arm Upgrade (Front)

At the same time I put in the front long arms, I also got rid of the budget boost and 3.5" springs.

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the long arm installation, but I will get pictures soon enough. Here was me flexing on a rock outside of IRO to test out my new suspension You may notice a few other things in this picture. I also got The IRO OTK steering system. I did not take any pictues of the intall of this either, but I will take more close ups later. I would highly recommend this as well. We have jacked up Jeeps by the tie rod before.
