What do ya'll think? I still have to build up the front axle, which sucks because for the dana 30 you have to press the carrier bearings on and off everytime you want to adjust the backlash. But either way, it has to get done before moab.

Looks really cool man. I cant wait untill my xj will be able to keep up. Probably another couple years lol. You know I was wondering if you could answer something for me. I'm haveing a poping noise when I go around a turn at a slower speed. Its consistant so I figured it was a u-joint, but Grant came by and couldnt figure it out too. There was no play in the u-joint at all.

I gues my question would be can a U-joint go bad ( a broken needle bearing?) without showing any signs of play?

Haha I its pretty cool, but really I only make it seem cool, just realize this is all off the clock. Its not like I am employed to install my own gears and locker.

leatherneck, are you in 4wd? I would check the front D.S, front axle shafts, and the t-case. If you are stuck in 4wd, the t-case can cause the tires to chirp and hop.

nah man it stumped me too. we took it for a drive and it sounded exactly like a u-joint but there is no play in them. im thinking hub bearing but who knows.

by the way man i have to say, i wouldnt mind owning your jeep. dude once i get my long arms in, we gotta go to northern and flex em out like the good ol days and get some comparison pics.

hmmm... look closer? haha. I doubt its the wheel bearings.

And thanks, but too bad. My ZJ on 37's will still rock your X on 34's.... as far as flexing. Thanks to rear long arms Hahah jk it will probably be about the same due to my tires not tucking as much anymore as the 35's.

On topic of gears, make set up bearings from old ones and slide them on and off my hand until it's right then press the new ones on only once. This also prevents damage to them. I like the bumper. Keep up the good work.

98ZJ, 4.0,242, 8.8 Detroit, hp30, 3.5" lift, IRO LA's 4.56's, 33" Firestone MT's, custom rear bumper, ARB front, Engo E9000, factory skids

Good idea, but wouldnt the difference between a setup bearing and a new bearing effect something as simple as backlash? With a sloppy setup bearing, I would think that would allow some error.

Thanks.

and 8-nine, haha well a golf course cant be bad?
