I've decided to edit This original post to reflect what has really happened rather than what i expected. Tell the world your plans and see how it laughs...

This is my build thread for "Patience." Patience is my 99 WJ which I picked up a couple years ago. It took roughly 9 months from the day I bought it until I got the title straightened out. The guy I bought it from was a massive pile of dog crap. To add to the BS I realized a couple days after I bought it, the 4.0 blew up. I used the time I had getting the paperwork straightened out to go ahead and do a full rebuild on the engine (as catalogued in this thread http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/write-ups-1289640/ ) which went well. It's got almost 10,000 miles on it now and other than probably needing a new TPS and 02 sensors it runs good and gets about 14mpg in 40mph in town driving.

After everything was sorted out I drove it and fixed things here and there. Premium Centric ceramic pads all around, Raybestos rotors new hoses, new long fuel line. I have the "bad" style calipers but they haven't caused me any trouble so I'm not changing them out at this point.

I was rear ended a couple of months ago (I still haven't gotten a new hatch) and planned on doing an IRO 3" lift and new tires, but then I had some changes in life and ended up buying a car and using the money left over for other things. 2 months later i SOLD that car, and was left with a bit less money to put into the truck, so I decided to go with Fat Bob's (BDS) 2" coils, new isos, Bilsteins and all new control and trailing arms.

Sometime probably next tax season (yay for having kids!) I'm planning on getting some 245/75/16's on it. Maybe Dura Tracs, Maybe Treadwright Warden's, maybe Firestone Destination A/T's. We'll see. I also plan to eventually get a set of 3.73 axles for it. My Dana 35c rear end is worn out and I noticed yesterday doing the lift that my front diff is now leaking fluid out of the pinion seal :-(

I plan to eventually do "Cool Blue" LED's in my dash and get rid of the stock head unit.

So I hope you enjoy my build thread.

I was lucky enough to grab my D44A from a yard for $65 last year. but the yards around here are ruthless with their pricing. That being said I wouldn't want the 3.55 with a lift and big tires and even with 3.73 it makes it hard sometimes with the 4.0 pulling all that heavy weight.

(Sorry to hear about your Jeep, I come back and everything's different. I just found out Ratmonkey passed away, he had some serious knowledge of the Grand Cherokee platforms.)

I'm at sort of a crossorads here now.

So I hate talking about money in public but this is where I'm at:

I've got 2375 coming from his insurance.

I have to fix the hatch. At the very least that's 500 smackers.

The lift is around 480
Tires 428 (that's including shipping)
Regear/rebuild with 4.10's is 1412.

That's 400 over budget! Plus it doesn't allow me any extra to buy a CD player to replace the piece of crap Jeep put in there.

So I'm thinking...maybe I need to look harder for a D44/3.73 package before I dive into getting regeared. I'm sure I could live with 3.73's for a while. Just gotta find a reasonable deal somewhere...

Okay - I looked at lkq just now and they've got a D35 with 3.73 for 450, and a front to match also for 450... Might not be ideal but it's 500 cheaper....

Also, a quick check at KC pick n pull shows they have 3 WJ's. What are the odds any of them have what I need and it's still there? guess I'll find out...

Hey man, its doin great. About 7k on it now. Uses almost no oil, getting around 14-15mpg in town according to the evic...haven't checked it myself yet.

I had some issues after the jet chip I left in went bad but I fixed them. Now I've gotta bring my idle screw back up a little...

Yea they would work great with the 242. For that price yes it would be a 44a.
