The Vari-lock axles are way under rated IMHO, give them a chance, they might surprise you!

You don't need that much lift to run 32's. Maybe a 3" short arm lift would be better.

If you go longarms, I'd recommend Clayton instead of the weird IRO iron-Y try-to-play-it-off-as-a-radius-arm kit.

I keep hearing this and look forward to getting the jeep offroad some to test them out.

I love the Clayton kits but damn that's a chunk of money. I'm going 4"+ and long arm for sure.

This is good info. Do you know if I can regear the quadra drive easily and if so I imagine only up to 4:88?

I figured out the WJ has the Dana 44a in the rear which was necessary info to give the folks when I ordered a 6" Clayton LA lift. Plan on running 33's (thinking STT or KM2's or maybe MTR's) on JK moabs (I already have a set) with stock 3.73 gears to start with. Going with 5100 Bilstein shocks, also ordered an Addco rear swaybar and the greaseable mounts. Then I couldn't stop and picked up a Flowmaster Super 44 to help give the WJ V8 some rumble. Looking at rock rails and a KOR roof rack but need to build the funds back up first.

Won't look like this for much longer.

Replaced the hood struts and air filter. Also picked up all the fluids and filter to do oil, diffs, transfer case. Picked up some new wiper blades and when I went to install them I decided the wiper arms needed cleaned up. since I had the arms off might as well clean up the cowl piece that runs along the botom of the windshield as well.

Looks like you have a nice foundation to build from. Nice find even with the minor issues, I'd take those minor things over a high mileage WJ any day.

It is moving right along. Got the front grille insert, antenna and wiper arms painted up.

That's exactly how I felt. I've fixed all the issues but the seat. Once lifted and fit with some 33's the WJ might be my new favorite jeep

Front tow hooks would set it off nicely as well.

You are exactly right, that's why I ordered some Saguaro front shackle mounts and a receiver shackle to put in the rear hitch so I have recovery points.

Why don't you go over to Grand Cherokee General Discussion and start a build thread? The original question of "Is this a deal I shouldn't pass on" is now moot.

If you want I can just rename this thread for you.

If you could just rename this thread that would be preferred. Thank you.

Nice buy, that's a $8,000-$12,000 vehicle in Los Angeles. And I'm trying to buy one.
