Good thing I bought new spring isolators, look how jacked up these are:

One of the major things we were taking care of that day were my worn out axle bearings and leaking seals. Here's Steve working hard (seriously, this man did a LOT of the work on this thing) They were not easy to get out, but I didn't expect them to be with just unde 1/4 million miles on them.

Here's Roger cutting the old bearings off:









And then he had to cut off one of my lower shock mount nuts (Jeep welded a lot of nuts on the WJs)







Isolators are finally out:







I didn't replace the lower isolators in the rear, as they were still in okay shape, but we did have to re-thread one of the 3 bolt holes on top of my diff where the upper wishbone-style control arm mounts to.









Factory rear spring compared to the 4" Rough Country spring:











And the stupid spacer they give you for the differential ball-joint mount of the wishbone control arm:







The kit came with these shock relocators, but since I have the wheel spacers, I don't need them and will be taking them off some time soon:

Yes, I did more than supervise:



Front adjustable lower control arm in:









When removing the bumpstop mount on the driver's side, both bolts broke loose. Instead of trying to drill and tap, Roger just welded the bumpstop mount spacer to the frame:

One bumpstop mount came out fine, so we just bolted the spacer in:








COMPLETED:









I have some not-so-happy thoughts about some of the Rough Country kit, but I'll save that for another post.

After installing the lift, we had 3 extra bushings/crush sleeves left over. I immediately knew they were for the rear ball joint spacer. I waited until this past week to finally install them. Here's pictures of where they need to go, gotta get some pictures of them installed tomorrow.....

Yesterday I bedliner'd my front bumper, since it looked like crap anyway. I think I like the way it turned out. My wife for sure did. She said "do the whole Jeep. Murder it out, I'm tired of the ugly-azz gold" Me too baby. :bigthumb:









And then I fabbed up some under-hood mounts to mount lights on top the hood. I hated them when I put them on (yes I know they're not level--I wasn't done). My buddy pointed out that I should make the mounts in a Z shape to get them out over the fenders instead of the U shape that puts them over the hood. I'll try that tomorrow.

Then today I took her out and got her a little muddy. Kinda disappointed in myself that it took 2 whole weeks for me to go out after the lift and new tires.

No kidding. I just let all the clunks and squeaks get bad enough to warrant purchasing the lift to replace (most) of the suspension.

I replaced front top and bottom, and rear top. Rear bottom must have been replaced at some point, as they were in pretty decent shape.

Slowly getting rid of the hideous gold.

Dang you were soooo close to flopping there! You did the right thing staying steered into it.

Other than that fan hitting the shroud (ouch) it looks like she's treating you pretty well.

PS: what's your slider situation? That big right-side rock looked like a real rocker muncher.

Yeah, everyone around me was like "did you **** yourself?" I didn't think it was that bad from inside the cab. It's hard to tell since the JK with the camera is on the same slope, but that hill was STEEP!

yeah, I'm working on dealing with the fan. I'm still overheating when the outside temps are 75*F+ so I need to get something done before summer really hits.

No sliders yet. We ran the whole trail on a side by side first. I was kinda reluctant to go down that hill just because of that one rock. The ground to the other side was as loose as potting soil, with a 100+ foot drop (with trees). We got right to it and it was nothing with the 4" of lift. There was one other trail we hit, which I wish there was video of, called "The Can Opener". We had to climb a waterfall, then make a few VERY TIGHT maneuvers through rocks hanging into the creek. The full-size Ford you see smashed all 4 corners coming through there, and scraped both sides of the truck pretty bad. ($500 truck, meant for this) All in all, I'm impressed with the WJ, as were some other members of the group.
