My 1998 platnium niner build

my build thread from for my platnium niner
pic from when i bought it from squashman702 need to upload from phone

on 4/6/2010 i purchased the niner from squashman702 with a stack of reciepts from him and the previous owner. the niner had a k&n intake system, a bigger throttle body and sct tuner when i bought it. also has stillen rear drilled rotors

k&N installed before amsoil filter

since i have alot of parrts on my 97 4.0 i am swapping everything i can over to the niner slowly but surely. to be swapped over will be my entire stereo system, cb radio, iro otk steering, iro front long arms, iro short arms, ito double shear trac bar and rear trac bar.

since i already had the jeep bug i sent kolak a message asking about his ignition upgrade the night i bought it and after some reading abotut the parts included i ordered the kit.

ordered an amsoil part# EAAU4090 air filter and prefilter

also ordered a set of auto vent shade rainguards since they are on every vechile at my house. i know some dont like the look but i would rather have my window open in the rain and be getting fresh air.

i have tinted the tail lights, installed my crystal clear headlights and optima red top battery from the 97 into the niner.

since there are plans on swapping my lift over from my 97 i ordered a set of jks discos because my old jeep did not have a front sway bar and bilestein 5100 shocks from kolak since this jeep only desrves the best

i am waiting for a nice day so i can install teh kolak ignition and amsoil parts as well as start to hook up my stereo system since the system that came in the niner is horrible

The niner's looking nice. It will be better when all the parts from the old ZJ are swapped over.

i was planning on swapping the lift over soon but that is getting put on hold since i have a bad coolant leak after tonight. leaking from the motor still cant tell exactly from where going to check it in the morning. what i was doing below may be the reason

i took the 5.9 to the track tonight to see what it would run and was very happy with the results 1st run was a 15.424 at 89.1mph 2nd run was a 15.187 at 89.54mph and 3rd run was a 15.177 at 89.45mph

Greengc4x4 05-05-2010 11:19 PM

My bet is timing cover gasket or bypass hose

platinum5.9 05-06-2010 07:24 AM

reminds me of my old one...:(

Nice ride. The local yard has a rust free 9 with a hard front hit. It's been picked clean already. :( I did manage to get the upcountry skids off of it.

Figure out the leak?

What'd you launch at when you were at the track? I was thinking it would be closer to mid 14's. I bet exhaust will help a bunch.

Yeah the leak was coming from the gasket behind the piece the water pump attaches to.

Didn't tach it up on the launch since didn't want to chance breaking anything and I also had a kid in the passenger seat I am hopefully going this Wednesday night to see if I can get into the 14s

I think if you launch it around 1200 RPM's you'll see faster times. Also, ditching a kid out of the passenger seat (assuming he weighs 200) should net you 2 tenths.

also forgot to add on the 5th had a 3" cat and muffler added.

if i hadnt started leaking coolant i was kicking the kid out on my next pass and the next pass launched it to see how much faster i can get it. i also still have to install the kolak ignition and amsoil filter.
