My Jeep on day one:

This was back in June.

My brush guard on day one (sometime in July):

I paid $75 for it. It was designed for a chevy truck but had previously been on a GC thanks to a little fabrication. However I didn't like how it had been attached so I had to work up my own way of doing it

I had cut down the original mounts and welded them directly to the bottom of the bumper. This gave me a strong place to mount the guard and prevented me from loosing any ground clearance in the front.

Here's the guard cleaned up and repainted with bedliner:

And with some bumper trimming:

I get my final product:

The next step is a 3" lift and 32" tires.

Also, I am putting new valve cover gaskets on it this week and I want to paint the valve covers. Long term I want to repaint the Jeep black, but black is the stock color and quite frankly kinda boring. Any thoughts?

paint it with herculiner

Well, I was going to swap a 249 for a 249, but after many a busted knuckle and bruised hand, it looks like I'll be doing a 242 swap instead so I don't have to worry about the VC anymore.

Also, I purchased my tires; 32" Dayton Timberline AT II. $250 w/ 90% tread.

Hello lift and tires!

MoonyJohn 10-27-2009 11:33 AM

How big of a lift is that?

moparmatters 10-27-2009 12:23 PM

3" w/ 32" tires. I'm also putting on a bigger steering stabilizer, it's just not in the pic.

MoonyJohn 10-27-2009 12:26 PM

Nice, so those are upcountry springs and 2" spacers?

moparmatters 10-27-2009 12:41 PM

Actually the springs are stock front springs to put on the rear and 3" spacers from Fat Bob's garage for the front. It was the cheapest combo to get what I wanted.

I'm getting my new tires mounted tomorrow, so I'll post the rest of the pics then.

Nice... lifting is awesome, but its a lot of work and money (and im not talking about the install) What are your plans for the rig? mallcrawling? trails?

you shouldnt run over a 2.25" spacer

spife7980 12-05-2009 09:40 PM

in front it isnt a big deal as the retainer posts are longer and he did it correctly and used springs in the rear. i still would have gone springs too but he isnt being too unsafe when he takes that approach.
