If the tires are grabbing the ca's at full turn then yea spacers or new rims will fix it. Most company's only sell 1.75" spacers so thats kinda ur only choice. Or order new offset rims.

Thanks for the info. I'll play with it a little bit and decide if i want spacers. I hardly ever have to turn that hard, and usually park in the boonies so I can pull straight through. Driving around in the snow today I didn't have to turn that hard so we'll see!

My gear-select bezel light burned out so I ordered a new blue one from superbrightleds. Figured I might as well do the dash, also. I still need to do the rest of the dash, but I'll do that at a later date.

I got the ZJ out to play in a little snow, today. Glad I decided to take it instead of my Impreza as the roads were garbage (albiet fun for the ZJ!)

Jeep moves smoothly on pavement, but on the icey roads I'm hearing a lot of rattling and I bounce all over the place. I think it's my stock shocks that have 250,000 miles on them. I'm going to order some Rancho RS5000 shocks and see if those fix things.

Sorry man, I accidentally scrambled all the pictures on my Photobucket so the links are invalid. I'll fix them soon. In the mean time:

I'm getting this popping sound around the Jeep when I accelerate and turn. At first I thought either my trackbar or my tierod/draglink was loose, but nay, they are both new and tight. So, I think it may be my CV Axle shaft, as the boot is torn. Screw it, they should be replaced anyway, so I'm going to have the front two replaced when I get my new brakes installed, and then I'll do the rear two myself at a later date.

Thinking about these. Please let me know if they're wrong!:

I'm graduating college at the end of the Summer and will hopefully be relocating to the East Coast. I want to take the Jeep with me, but it's all going to depend on whether it can make the trip...

just pull ones from an XJ at the junk yard for more strength. 89-95 with ABS have 5-297x u-joints, all 95+ have 5-297x u-joints.

Rancho shocks arrived today. I'll be at my cabin from tomorrow until Friday, but this weekend I'll put them on!

Next month's upgrade will be all new control arms.

Got all the shocks installed. While under the Jeep it's apparent I need both front CV axles, so those will be purchased and installed in January.

Shock install was pretty easy - my impact wrench helped a lot as the bolts were torqued on there pretty good in the rear. The ones in the front were barely even snug, and they were blue (rears were yellow)... I wonder if those were replaced at some point, or if they are the stock '97 shocks, also. Biggest pain in the *** was changing the nut on the drivers side since it's under the brake fluid box, but it was just slow goings - and I noticed I need more brake fluid.

Control arms will be ordered on the first.

Hoping to have the entire suspension/brakes finished in Spring so I can start work on the engine/exhaust side of things.

Suspension/Brakes/Steering -> Engine/Exhaust -> Exterior

Might not need fluid, could be you are close to needing new brakes. As the pistons depress, the fluid reservoir gets low.

Yeah, I definitely need need brakes. Unfortunately the budget for those wont be here until January.

Thanks for the link, but that's a bit out of my budget. I think I'll go with the other ones you recommended: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...egory_Code=XDT

and for the rears I'll go with: http://www.quadratec.com/products/52400_0613.htm

Thanks again for all the help!

My finals start next week, ugghh. Thanks for all the help on my axle post. I think I'm going to go with the CV axles for now, since I can get both for $100 from AutoZone, and I'll likely do the Cherokee upgrade later.

In other news...

I finally ran the ZJ's vin through Carfax and found out I'm the second owner, and no collisions... which shocked me. I knew the PO was an older handy-capped gentleman, and the Jeep has never been wheeled but it has been neglected. So while nothing is bent or broken, it's safe to say a lot of critical parts are probably on their way out. I'm going for Chrysler's license plate cover since I have 250,000 miles and am the second owner.

Installed a new Rancho stabilizer and bought more tools, today. I also finally broke down and bought a Haynes manual. Figure I should start doing more Jeep repairs on my own.

I did a quick white spraypaint over the stabalizer so it would match my shocks.
