Thanks man. I haven't ridden any trails in a LONG time.
Jeep has been ridden hard and I just now noticed the engine making a funny noise. I'll get a better feel for it driving to work tomorrow.
Tub is nearly all prepped. Will be painted in the next few weeks.
Need a proper bit to drill out my winch plate to mount the fairlead.

I'll post a video of the engine noise tomorrow -- it's a whirring noise that relates directly to throttle action. Not high pitched. Not smoking so I don't think it's a piston ring. Not really a clattering noise either so I don't think it's a bent valve. Maybe a spun bearing?
I'll pull the head after I get a new gasket and investigate. Might end up pulling the oil pan too. Both of which I've been meaning to do for a while now.

oil pan is easy. I've never pulled a head, so can't comment on that...

You can see just how far I was under water. That's 10 inches above the cabin floor.... Hahaha... Sat like that for a solid 5 hours too, lol.

Hard to say. I'm guessing the valve train. Not nearly as loud from underneath.
Also sounds MUCH worse when very cold. Sometimes it's _almost_ hard to hear it when warm.
I'll pull the valve cover and oil pan as soon as I get new gaskets.

Check for metal shavings.
Your lucky if the noise is coming from the top.

Low PS fluid after all. Will flush and fill.
Still going to remove and inspect v.cover and o.pan
Also, at least it hit tread!

Poor Jeep. I drive the piss out of it.
At first I thought it was just a loose bracket. Nope.
