That's awesome! It's nice to actually have some honest cops. No one around here would step up and admit that

Enough chit chat. Back to a Jeep build. Got this from Kolak. It's pure beef. Can't wait to get it painted and installed. Thanks Kolak!

Power steering pulley is off kilter or something. The pump is mounted properly, but the pulley wobbles now. Causes a squeak every time it goes around and rubs the edge of the belt. This is bad news because it's ****ing with my serp belt and I'm working 75+ hours this week and next. Not to mention, it's putting all sorts of off-axis stress on that pulley. Have you seen a PS pulley explode? Because I have. God $%#@ mother #$%^ing piece of @$#@ sucking @($# eating $#@&!!!!!!

In other news, the Jeep fund was temporarily diverted into the diamond fund. I made the last payment on an engagement ring last week and proposed last night.

Jeeps spitting out power steering pulleys is no fun. You can run without it if you have to, but it's not recommended.

Any chance the mounting bracket is cracked? That could cause it.

**** this ****. I've worked 14 hour days for the last seven days. I miss playing with the Jeep. I now have...

ORDERED:
  • Power steering pump
  • Power steering pulley
  • Power steering bracket
  • Intake manifold/plenum gasket (decided against the permanent repair right now--I'm a baller on a budget)
  • Intake manifold bolts

SITTING IN THE **** CLOSET:
  • Steering linkage
  • Isolators
  • Spring compressors
  • Couple cans of red paint (for the springs and linkage)
  • The whole interior--I did finish wrapping the door trim in brushed aluminum, though
  • My head unit
  • The rest if the new carpet
  • 75 ft^2 of sound insulation (for the doors, rear hatch, and roof)

10 days until I get a day off!!!

: After pulling every single fuse under the hood and in the passenger side and every one under the hood and all the relays, one by one, I though I'd isolated my parasitic drain to the alternator. Replaced that, drove it for two weeks, everything was golden. That was when I drove it every day, several times a day. I let it sit for the weekend and drove the work truck. Went to start it this morning at 5:30. Nothing. Not even interior lights when I unlocked it (manually). One more week until I get a day off. Until then, I'll just be undoing the battery every time I park it. :

I "fixed" the squeaky pulley. I dripped a couple drops of Dawn dish detergent on the belt--it's silent now. My Mopar stickers had given up on life. They just couldn't handle the intense heat under the hood, even with the louvers to keep then chilled.

So, I had five minutes alone with a can of spray paint... I tend to get carried away when that happens.

It's worth mentioning that the louvers are Plastidipped under the spray paint. I can just peel off the red and go back to deep slate any time I fancy. This was mostly an experiment to see how far I can take the red and slate theme.

I guess I should have included a picture of the final product. What do you think? With the steering linkage, wheel lips, springs, and diff covers this color red, is it going to be too much?

It'll look very sporty IMO. I'm liking it.

im not a fan of it....BUT its hard to get a real sense of it because I cant see the entire JEEP in the pic, and your currently mis-matched bumper cover really clashes with the red and makes it look worse than it probably would with a matching cover

I should have cropped that out. I know the purple looks ****ing stupid. I'm really hoping to tie it all together with a properly painted bumper and some red accents here and there. If it doesn't work, then I'll just peel the red off of the louvers. They're the only thing that I think could be "over the top."

The red is off the louvers. It looked like a lady bug or something. Black and red spots.

In other news, the rear wiper motor is shot. The solution? Delete the rear wiper! While I'm getting plugs, the radio antenna is coming out, too.
