Yup... I have this for dirt. The Jeep just takes me to the top of the mountain.

In other news, started degreasing the engine. Getting it prepped for tear down and rewiring. I find it way easier to work in a clean engine bay. Sorry for the iPhone pics. Stupid camera is on the fritz...

This is my dirt machine...

image-2813036358.jpg

I'd love to go and wheel it but with it being my only vehicle I can't have it break. So that's why I want to buy a 5.2 and build a pavement pounder.

Alternator finally **** the bed this morning on the way to work. That's what I get for putting it off. I knew it had at least a bad diode in it, but it stopped working totally. I limped into Advance running on battery juice only. I had him load test it and he confirmed my thoughts. Alternator was toast. So, $144 and about 15 minutes later I drove out of there with a reman 136A alternator in place. Definitely not what I wanted, but it'll do for now. I'd really like one of the 150A from Quadratec.

I guess it's not that bad. With high beams, efan, and the heat blasting the volt meter didn't drop below 14. That's good. Anyway, the pictures...

Out with the old, in with the new:

Everything lines up.

All buttoned up.

I ordered some lift gate struts. That ****er has hit me in the head for the last time. For those of you concerned, these are the results from the load test. The battery was low from driving without a working alternator for a couple minutes.

Great build McCloud. There are two possibilities for the bumper cover color, I cant tell exactly from the pics, but I think it's Rosewood Metallic (Red Looking/Purpleish Hue) if it's more of a straight up purple with a more blue hue, then it is Deep Amethest Pearl.

Know what's better than a nice, new alternator? A nice, new, red and black alternator! Again, you're going to have to settle for iPhone pictures until I get another camera.

The way my job works, I do a job for 60-70 hours a week for 2-3 weeks at a time. Then I get paid a **** load of money and have no work until the next job starts. Sometimes I get a whole week off between jobs. It's great for getting stuff done on the Jeep and around the house.

Put everything back together. Luckily, my road got plowed and it stopped snowing. It was still cold outside...

My working conditions:

I didn't take a lot of pictures of the install. Too cold for that. New valve covers and bolts, though. Beauty shots:

Intake is next! It's going to be black. Need to add some contrast.

How're you liking that with no heat? Or do you have heat without the AC compressor?

Everything looks great! Wish I had the time you have haha. After the intake, tackle the transfer case!
