Louisianaboy build thread

Figured I would start a build thread. Won't be anything fancy, just a little here and there. I found it on craigslist in Houston, picked it up for $2700. Not my daily driver just a project to tinker with.

Was a little nervous about driving it back to Louisiana (having no idea what kind of shape everything was in) but it did fine. First up was removing all seats and everything and Clorox wiping everything and shampooing carpet (OCD about buying used vehicles) and changing all fluids. Still need to change coolant and water pump tho. It had rear end grind but the royal purple 75-140 with 3/4 tube of FM took care of that. It also has minor rear main seal leak.

First change was to get rid of the old plastic bumper, y'all may have seen this in my questions about bumper mounting locations. Nothing too heavy duty but hey...

Painting... (Duplicolor bed armor)
By the way this stuff works a LOT better when it's hot. Left the can laying on the concrete in the sun for a while before using

I forgot to add when I was changing fluids that I took out and cleaned the transmission fluid governor and solenoid. Used a q-tip to (lightly and easily) clean the sensor in the governor because I had the error message for governor, p 1764 I think, but this got rid of it.

Wet sanded then used toothpaste on an old sock to clean the headlights. Got them a little better, still plan to buy new ones later

After, but now when I get time I need to take them off again to dry them out, leftover water didn't evaporate like I figured it would.

Of course front spring perches were a little rusted, just cleaned, sanded and painted them. Then sprayed some leftover bed armor on the new isolators before putting them on, just for a little more paint layer on the perches.
