Linus '04 WJ build

Purchased my WJ used in 08 with 48k miles. Check out my plans and updates, any advise or responses are appreciated.

2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo
4.0L I6
Selec-Trac Trans Case

Current Mods:
35% tint on front windows
Projector headlights
DDM HID kit - 55 watt/5000k bulbs
Audiosonik PMA 800DF Amp
12" Resonant Engineering SE sub in 1cuft sealed box
OEM front tow hooks
Rough Country steering stabilizer
2" BDS coil springs
3/4" spring spacers
Bilstein 5100 shocks
17" JK moab wheels
255/70R17 General Grabber AT2
2" rear sway bar end link bracket spacers
Dynomax Super Turbo muffler
Rola roof rack
Hella 6" driving lights
OEM trailer hitch and bezel

Future Mods
Carolina Drive Shaft front double cardan drive shaft
Iron Rock Offroad 3" bump stop extensions
OEM transfer case skid
Dana 30 Aussie Locker

stock with 35% tint on front windows and bug deflector

First thing I did was paint the center fascia trim for that Limited look. Taped it off and used silver Rustoleum wheel paint

I settled on these head light housings to replace my hazy stock housings.
Here is the comparison old on the left and new on the right. I gave up wet sanding and polishing the stock lights. And I am hoping to get an HID kit to go in the new projector housings

New housings in

Got my HID low beam kit from DDM Tuning to go in the projectors. I liked the 5000k color but I read on their site the 55w kits wash out some of the color so to go with a temperature rating higher then you want. So I got the 55w 6000k kit with 9006 bulbs.

Didn't get a pic out of the box, but this is what the kit looks like

Here are the 6000k bulbs in

I got tired of people asking about my "blue lights" so I bought the 5000k bulbs and swapped them out. Even white light and no blue tint.

New 5000k light

I ran a line out converter off the factory head unit and put in an Autotek SX1200.1 amp. Would have liked to have made an amp rack but was lazy and wanted to save space so I mounted it to back of the rear seats. It runs 750wrms @ 1 ohm.

Here it is pushing my old Alpine Type R 10"

Then I upgraded to a Resonant Engineering SE-x 12" sub. I kept the 1 cuft sealed box and threw some handles on it to help with pulling it out to free up space.

Picked up some OEM front tow hooks off the jeepforum classifieds. They were chrome and had a little surface rust on the brackets so I took a wire brush to them and put a couple coats of flat black on them. Also found a shallow dent in the front of the unibody. Guess the PO rear ended someone.

Put on my Rough Country steering stabilizer today. I didn't expect a whole lot from it but my steering is firmer and more controlled.

Comparison of old vs new

And all bolted in

Well I finally got the lift on Saturday but didn't take a lot of pics. Took about 4 hours and most of that was the front, the rear was a breeze. Got an alignment and it's running smoother then before the lift. tires are still pretty new so I am stuck with the 245/70R16's for now. But I'll be getting 255/70R17's to go on my moab wheels next spring.

old springs and shocks

Before

After

That's where all my money went

Had a good day! Baptised her today. went down some rural trials and she held up really well. Just cruised over everything. Got high centered for a second but not bad. never even had to put it in 4wd

Measured the center hub to fender yesterday after having the lift on 2 weeks and compared them to the stock measurements I took.

Stock Front: 17.75"
Stock Rear: 19"

Lifted Front: 20.5"
Lifted Rear: 21"

How are you liking your new headlights? Did your Bilsteins come with the big window sticker? I need to tint my front windows. Your Jeep looks nice!

Thanks! I love the housings and the 5000k bulbs. I kind of wish I had gone with the 35w balasts, the 55w are a little to intense/bright. Even with low aiming I still blind a few cars. And no I got that Bilstein sticker off ebay

Got a good deal from Discount Tire Direct on some General Grabber 255/70R17 tires, 31". Got them mounted on some JK moabs I bought earlier this summer.

Looks awesome with the new tires! Any rubbing on control arms or anything? I think the alloy looks really good too, it seems like everyone paints them. The painted moabs do look the best on black dubs like yours, but I think they don't blend as well on other colors.
I bet you wont get high centered where you took your 'baptised' pics! You will have to let us know and take a new muddy pic!

No rubbing yet, turned them full lock forward and reverse but haven't flexed it any. They do make a little noise on the highway but not bad. Yeah I see a lot of people paint their moabs, I may do plastidip one day when I get bored. And when I get tired of the color just peel it of. Yeah I wanna take it offroad again, gained a few inches with the new tires, and I am excited to see that tread in action!
