Let's see those Systems (ZJ)

So another item of business on the never ending ZJ list for the summer is adding a couple subs in the back(I'm thinkin 10's). I tend to use the cargo area often so I don't want anything takin up all the space. Anyway pics and brand suggestions would be great!

Alpine type X 10", Alpine M1000, Custom fiber glassed enclosure.

enclosure is for sale for $250, or $30 less than materials if someone wants it. no less than 1/2" thick at the thinnest so it wont flex under any conditions. it beared my full weight jumping as hard as i could on it pre-paint.

suggestion? listen to the stuff before you buy it.

Thanks for the post. If I had the money I might just jump on that, but that clunk in the rear end is pretty annoying.

Do you like the Alpine pretty well?

yeah, as far as amps go i dont see a better bang for your buck as far as far as major brands go. i really like the type x sub, great sound quality and responsiveness, not the loudest (but at 1k rms it still beats the socks of most others you will encounter, especially at a single 10") but its a quick little sub. the type r seem to have a little air noise to em but im thinking that may be too most all of them i have heard have been in sub par prefab enclosures that arent sized correctly for it which could account for it. i like the type s for what they are though, pretty solid little subs.

but go listen at a local shop and see what you like the sound of and fits in your budget.

i had a kicker cvx before and it was loud but sounded sloppy, its all what youre after.

heres a side of the type x magnet, im thinking of inverting it.

since i'm going all kenwood, i have to ask where you purchased it all, and how much you paid? mainly for the subs and box.

right now all i have is the stock front door speakers (infinity gold)
kenwoods in the rear doors, and a kenwood head unit.

um i think i paid about 1100 for everything. i did it in stages though cause the system that was in the car when i bought it sucked so i replaced that right away plus only one speaker worked so for the head unit and speakers plus install was about 550-600, and for the subs and amp were about 500 bc he also had to do some rewiring. i got all of the stuff from 6th ave electronics, headunit was about 125 onsale from 200, and the four speakers were about 150. and the subs and amp came as a bundle on black friday weekend and it included the box so it was all discounted for the most part. try and get some better pictures soon

I've got a Kenwood Excelon CD head unit driving a Sounstream P205 under the rear drivers seat and a Soundstream Rubigon Angina under the rear passengers seat. The P205 is pushing 2 pairs of Polk components - front doors/dash and a soundbar from a '98 5.9. The sub channel on the P205 is pushing a pair of Polk 6 3/4" in the rear doors. The Angina is pushing a polk sub in a Q-Logic custom box that takes the place of the cubby hole in the rear. Virtually no loss of space and hits pretty good. Man I need to start getting pictures of stuff up…
