Let's see those homemade bumpers!

As we all know, the plastic "bumpers" on the ZJ's are a joke and only get in the way when wheeling. Mine actually fell off after driving a few miles with the 33's...I guess they didn't get along!

What I'd like to see is the homemade bumpers any of ya'll have made. As you might have figured out by now, I'm extremely cheap, and I'm planning to make my own bumpers, but I'd like to see what you have come up with for ideas on cheap, simple to make bumpers, especially for the front.

Thanks,

Casey

The plastic bumper is really just the bumper cover. If you are having tire clearance issues with just the plastic bumper, you'll still have them with a homemade or manufactured aftermarket bumper. You might want to increase the length of your front bumpstops.

I plan to fabricate a real bumper that will help protect the front end when I slide into a tree or some other obstacle, and to allow a place to install a winch, some recovery points, and to mount some lights. I do a lot of night-time 4 wheeling, so that would be handy. I just won't build it to get close to my front tires!

Something like that green ZJ in the third picture in the third post there, except without the hoops, that's kind of what I'm thinking...

im looking to get something fabed up for the front of my zj too. with a 2'' receiver for a multi-mount winch. the rest of the time ill leave the D ring in. i like how crazydude2500's is pretty low profile and doesnt stick out like tirus89's. i like the lines and design of the first zj sandman posted, id steal that design and put a receiver instead of a winch plate in it.

Sandman, who fabbed that Silver Limited's bumpers? I love both the front and back. I think that's the best rear bumper I've seen on a ZJ yet. The front bumper is made of awesome as well. This guy could sell those things.

iluvtruenos, If you want an easy to fab bumper look at Wrangler bumpers, one peice of tubing. ZJ bumpers aren't exactly easy, but it may be alittle easier than a WJ. Here's mine anyway

You really don't see tubes on ZJ's but I like the way mine came out.
