About the tick noise.
Have you checked the bolts to the flexplate?
On my XJ they came loose once and made almost the exact same sound.

That makes it very tempting for me to go with the blacked out look. I've still got a long way to go with mine, in fact...ALL the way. I just haven't had the money to spend on improvements since I bought it.

Blacked out is the Way to Go, Black wheels to come, glad i had all those parts in my garage, or it would get expensive, again, lol

Idk by now,,,

One mechanic, and one other very Mechanical skilled friend, the stetoscop guys, says top end right side lifter/cam noise like sound.

Rockers and cam lobes look fine, no abnormal wear, so that leaves me to lifters, engine also looks very clean, deff not gunked up, and problebly maintained ok.

Since lots of others 4.7 owners had problems with lifters and throwing rockers i will try this, if not rebuildt top end, front end, bottom end, engine swap most likely, whatever,,, flyes thrue my mind, very very expensive routes,

It could be conecting rod, slipping piston at top end in head, but id think/hope so.

So i guess i will give this it a try, or any got some other very Good suggestions?

What if you don't do anything? Is it a noise you can live with? I know mine ticks just a little. I figure it's just the wear from having 178k on the odo.

Have you heard the tick on my video?
My tick is not just a little one,
No i cant live with metal pieces slapping into each other inside my engine, its heartbreaking and at the end somewhere down the road, eventualy something major will blow, driving around waiting for that is like sitting on a ticking bomb, not very confortble.

I watched the DYI YouTube video on your other thread and I take it back. Now I am hoping I don't have any seized lifters. I don't have any loud ticks. I watched your video and it DOES sound like the rear driver's side. I hope new lifters solves your problem. it doesn't look very hard to do.
