sorry i forgot to mention.......... no it won't sound 'good' either.
I've had one on mine for a while and I've never found it that loud. Even while flooring it.

I have a 40 or 50, whatever came with Kolak's exhaust. It got WAY quieter after a few months. Its barely noticeable now, only loud in 2nd gear when accelerating. Email kolak and Im sure he can tell you which mufflers are loudest and fit your needs/system

If I had the 4.0 I would be looking for ways to hide the sound more!

Mine's a 4.0 too but you'd be surprised at how beefy it sounds. Although I do with I had a v8

State your proof. I sold my 95 5.2 that I owned for ten years when it had 225k miles on it with the original motor and transmission running great. No rebuilds. There are plenty of Dodge trucks and ZJ's with the v8's with over 300,000 miles on them. Maintenance and abuse have a lot to do with how long they last.

Do some reading. The Chrysler LA v8's have been around since the 60's. Then they turned them into the Magnum's in the early 90's. They have been around the block once or twice. It's a reliable motor.

I'd like to see who told you that.

I know 8+ people personally with 200k+ on their 360/318 motors and none have had any major problems with them.

On the other hand, I know of 4-5 people with 4.0's that have had nothing but troubles (one threw a rod, one had problems in the bottom end, etc) and I've yet to see a 4.0 that idled as smooth as my v8... I'm not saying they're bad motors either, but the whole 'bulletproof 4.0' thing is completely blown out of proportion. From what I've seen, they're no different than any other motor.

Take it for what its worth, but I'd take a 318/360 over those inefficient lead weights any day of the week.
