It wont give you any more torque that your making now. It will alow your engine to use the torque it makes more effeciently due to increased leverage on the tires. Lower gears are one of the most common overlooked upgrades. Its extremely important to keep engine speeds in its power band especialy at crusing. Larger tires lower the crusing speed which causes alot of down shifts and slugish response at highway speeds. Also kills acceleration because of loss of leverage over the tires. Lower gears will help with fuel milage some also, probly not enough to be able to tell but the increase in drivability is well worth it.

I thought you said you couldnt get them anymore because they quit making them? Thats why I went with a SCT.......... well that and one of the venders on thespeedfreaks had them on said for $275

Hopefully you got your SCT from Shawn - he's doing an excellent job with the programming.

Mopar Performance did not yet discontinued the Mopar Performance PCM for the 1993-1995 ZJ V8. It's the OBDII, 1996 and later ones that are discontinued. Good thing - SCT can not reprogram the 1993-1995 units.

OHH I see says the blind man. I forgot that he said he had an OBD1. I figured there was something I was overlooking.

Yarp I got it from Shawn. I am happy with it. I only run the 87 economy tune so far but I have noticed a nice improvement in power just with that setting. I filled her up with 93 last night so today I am going to try the 93 performance tune. Ohh and I am still waiting on Ole Leroy to call me back about my trans. Soon as he does I will let you know what I can do on the exhaust.

4.56s with 31s ....hmm, you'll have lots of giddy yap until about 70 and then you'll not go much faster.

I run 4.56s with 35s with the 5.9.

So that rocker kit that you ordered that is the same price for me as re-gearing. so what do you think will be more beneficail for me in the long run???

And can i run that kit with my stock 5.2 engine and just upgrade the rockers??

thanks

regearing is going to be more noticeable

you'd be better off with these nonadjustable rockers on a stock motor, they are 1.7, giving you more lift PN S70037

Roller rockers are great but I think there are alot of other things I would do first to yeild better results. Also 4:56 with 31" tires is a little too much. Just to give you an idea I had 4:88s in my F250 running 42" tires and in overdrive I was tacking around 2k rpms at 70MPH. I would not go more than 4:11 with 31s but if stock is 3:73 it wouldnt be enough of a change to worry with IMO. I dont know if you have 3:73s or 3:55s though.

What mods do you have now?

Unless you're going to install and set up the gears yourself, NOT replacing any bearings or seals, those rockers are way cheaper than re-gearing.

The cheapest steel you can get for ring and pinion set for the 8.25 is about $150, add another $100 or so for a master overhaul kit (unless you've recently rebuilt your axle), and for the D30 you're looking at about $140 for the ring and pinion plus another $100-150 for the master overhaul kit. Plus the fluids, of course. That doesn't count adding any limited slips or lockers, if you wanted.

On top of that, you're going to have about $800-1000 in labor unless you know someone who feels like doing it cheaply for you, or you do it yourself. It's not as simple as taking out a few bolts and putting some different bolts back in.

It will cost you $1500-2000 to re-gear both front and rear.

^yea regearing is expensive. I'd stick with the stock 3.73 gears for now and try to get more torque from the motor doing bolton mods. Especially if your axles are in good shape and you're only running 31s.
