Looks like you painted over the weights. Did you paint under them too?

No, I'm not going to remove the weights to paint under them. When I need to get them re-balanced down the road it's easy enough to just touch up where the old weights were.

I finally had a chance to tackle my exhaust manifold leak.

The broken studs. They turned out by hand one I removed the exhaust manifold.

Old vs. new. The old gasket didn't have the metal layer that the new one does.

Also found this damage to one of my wheels from my offroad trip last week.

That's s bad bend on the tire rim. Know if it's repairable?

I'm going to make some calls, and see if it can be repaired. If not, I should be able to find another wheel pretty cheap.

If it still holds air, you could always use it as the spare.

Like the build thread! Your dub looks great... The graphite rims against the silver paint looks awesome and so does that tire carrier. Well done

Be careful with that manifold many times it's warped and will need to be machined level. (cheaper than a new one) so it a bolt breaks again warping could be the culprit.

I checked it with a straight edge and it appeared to be fine. If it breaks again, I'll get it machined. I think it only took me about an hour to do.

How hard was it to separate from the downpipe? I got too scared that mine wouldn't seal properly again so I left it connected. Kade's too.

I was expecting a nightmare, the same as my '02 TJ, but this was seriously EASY. It loosened right up without too much effort, and went back together perfect too. The passenger side looks like it would suck though.

I did mine a while back. It wasn't that hard. It seems like everyone has problems with the driver's side. That is a good thing though as it is easier to get to than the passenger side. I pulled mine off of the downpipe. It took about 1.5 hours from start to finish when I did it.

Same thing with the loose bolt, I couldn't believe that they just came out by hand.

Nothing can be as bad as drilling out and tapping a broken exhaust manifold stud on my old 2.5L TJ back in high school. I think that was one of the first mechanical projects I ever tackled.
