Grand Cherokee Window Regulator

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I had to recently replace the window regulator in the rear passenger door. The breakage just happens to coincide with a passenger riding in the back who could have been pushing down on the switch continuously with her feet. Could putting constant pressure on the window switch and consequently the regulator cause something to break? It was an expensive repair! Also, is there any way it could also cause the master switch on the driver's door to go bad?

Please advise. Thanks.

Can you be more specific about what failed? It is really common for the plastic injection to get brittle and fail on the window slide so open it up and tell us what actually failed (eg. motor, broken cable, plastic retention housing, etc...)

If it is the plastic retainer, I have a free fix posted in my build thread so let us know what failed.
