Well winter is over and we had 3 days of spring and now summer is here. It hit 80 today so the half doors went back on and went for a ride.

Nice! I can't wait to put on my tube doors. It will prove to be interesting with my son. He doesn't enjoy wind lol. He might have to deal with it.

Finished the snorkel. Have about 40 bucks into it. Even snagged a cool intake for the top from the pick n pull. Got it out of a late 90s dodge van.

That and the roar of the MT. The strange looks will start soon too.

You should find some kinda mesh to put over the snorkel head. This way you dont get leaves and big chunks of mud in it.

Found some old gutter mess and made a screen for the snorkel. Thanks for the advice.

Finally started the slider tube extensions. Picked up 3 6' x 1.5" thick wall DOM tubing from local scrap yard for 22 bucks. The build begins. First time using my JD2 bender. Tube notcher was quick and easy too. Just gotta cut the center supports and start welding.

Hit the JY up the other day and picked up a few odds and ends. Got a pair of a-pillar grab handles, a center console lower cubby w/heated seat switches and a light switch stalk w/fog lamp switch for 30 bucks.

Put the grab handles on and found out that they must have changed style at some point. The new ones were about an inch short on top. So I just cut an inch and a half off the old ones to fill the gap. Used nylon type nutserts to attach the handles. When done pull my 270lb but in with them and they held. So good to go. They had another set there but they were a light color and the ones i grabbed were grey, slightly lighter than my interior.

Old ones

New ones installed

Swapped out the Light switch stalk-one screw on bottom of cover, pried upper and lower covers apart, removed 2 screws from stalk and disconnected connector. Then swapped out stalk and reinstalled all. Also had to put a mini relay in the fuse block. Test light in fog plug under bumper and worked as advertised. The only other thing is the new stalk has "auto" setting. So next trip to the JY i'll be looking for the sensor that goes up on the dash. WJJEEPS.com has a section on install.

Havnt put the cubby in yet.

Jumped on the spare tire carrier builds. Gunna do a tank tuck at the same time. Thinking of deleting the factory hitch and incorporating a receiver into the bottom cross member of the spare tire carrier.

Picked up 75 bucks of scrap metal for the build. 2"x4" 3/16" 5', 2"x2" 1/4" 5', 2"x2" 1/4" 6.5', 1.5" 10' (thick wall tube) and 36"x48" 12g (tire well cover). Some of it was pretty rusty. Spent some time cleaning it up.

Orders a 1.25 spindle for the carrier from but they sent me a 1.75 spindle. Called and told'em I'd return it on their dime for the smaller one and they told me to keep it. Its kinda huge. Will see if it will work with the 2"x4".

Took the bumper over and foam off. Marked and cut sheet metal.

Sprayed the hitch bolts with PB blast. Will let them soak over night. Will work on it again tomorrow

Got the spare tire well cleaned out and cut out for tank tuck. Tons of mud and dirt on top of the tank. Looks like i'll rust busting to do on the tank straps and skid. Also have a couple bid dents to pound out. Hitch has some rust too. Will get that cleaned up and ready to sell. Also will be putting on anti seize on all bolts.

Good time to replace the fuel filter too.
