how is your mpg holding up with those gears? I have a 4.7 HO with 285/70/17 (32.7") and it's got 3.73's in it now and I have some 4.56 I was going to put in, but I'm afraid they are too much (considering it's a DD)... thoughts?

I am running 4:56 gears with 265/70/16, They will make you drive your Jeep different or you will have lighter pockets. I did the 4:56's because i am in the process of upgrading to a Claytons kit and 33's, once I am done, i will be back to near stock again.

What do you mean drive different? I have 265/75's and am doing gears soon and was first set on 4.10's to put it back to stock, then I changed my mind to 4.56's because if I want to go bigger later down the road, then I won't have a gear problem. Mine's my DD so I would like the best mileage.

Well the only difference is you gotta be lighter on the gas peddal bcs it takes off like a slingshot. Driving on the highway i did notice the RPMs a sitting a little higher around 70 MPH. But here is the fun part, get a locker and 4.56s and you can do doughtnut on anything...but tape it for us.

Yes, Like I said, you will adjust your driving habits. They are great offroad, I would get the 4:56 gears again if I had to do it all over.

you'll be fine with 4.56s, just get them because later down the raod you'll regret not getting them and will have to pay for anther install.

I'm still unsure, what did you mean about using neutral though?

You will use it whenever you can, Hills, etc. I have been using mine since I changed gears, and it works. Gaining a mile or two with these gas prices, is priceless.
