fosterjd79's WJ Build Thread
2 Attachment(s)
Ok guys, I am way passed the time to start a thread like this. I am going to try and capture a lot of what I've done so far and then I will try and give a quick list of what I want to do. I bought this Overland WJ in 2012 with 50K miles, an old saggy OME lift and stock rims.

Here she is as she sits today. Dirty and needing some love...

So, here is everything installed in the pics above...

1. Old Sagging OME HD coils with Nitro shocks (~2" of lift)
2. 3/4 inch coil spacers (making the total lift about 2.75")
3. Addco Sways front and rear
4. IRO extended sway links
5. JKS adj track bar
6. ProComp 7105 Rims
7. Nitto Terra Grappler 265/65/17
8. Minor bumper trim in the front
9. Fog light delete (the rubbing was pulling them out)
10. Fawkes minimax front receiver with d-ring and bullbar tabs
11. Front and rear winch quick disconnect
12. Smittybilt XRC8 in an offbrand cradle
13. Westin Platinum series nerf bars
14. Swapped the chrome overland headlights for black Laredo headlights

I think that's everything up to now. Here is what's waiting for install...

1. New OME HD lift with Bilstein 5100's (From Kolak)
2. The bullbar is removed in the above pictures and is waiting for lights (IPF 968) and to be painted flat black.
3. Changing the Nitto tires to 245/75/17 Duratracs (yes, I'm going skinny)
4. I will remove the nerf bars once I'm on a lift with air tools
5. I am also doing a full chrome delete.
6. I have some items on order and being fabbed. I'll leave those as a surprise.

More to come!

Thanks man. Here is a good compare and shows the bullbar installed on Fawkes minimax. Once it get's warm enough I am painting the grill and bullbar black.

my suggestion is paint the grille with plasti-dip and see how you like it for a few weeks before you make it permanent. I used bed liner on my chrome grille rings.....after a few months I got tired of it and had to spend hours sanding it off by hand.....

Good idea. I found a second grill for cheap locally so I am going to experiment with that. I've also thought about grabbing a chrome ring grill and painting it to match with black rings.

adavis39 03-25-2013 05:50 PM

theres a silver grille with the rings for sale in the classifieds.....but you've got an '04 so i believe the swap takes a little fab work. but it can be done

I saw that and am considering trying to fit it. I think for now I might spray my current grill body color on the outside like a Laredo but instead of chrome in the teeth I will paint it black.

It was nice out today so here's the first step of removing the chrome. Spray painted the grille bezel body color and the grill flat black.

Plastidipped the bull bar. Not sure I like this yet. I need to fab the light tabs and see what it looks like with the lights.

So today...installed OME HD coils, bilsteins, terafelx quick discos on the front and extended links on the rear. The rear sway link bushings are poly and are squeaking like crazy. I didn't have any grease but just finished with the install. Now some poly grease is on the list. Pics coming.

nice. i've always wondered when people list they have the ome hd lift how many inches is that?

The time now is 12:40 PM.
