for now no lights. eventually i will probably put some side facing lights on it for camping.

got the first coat of paint on it tonight, only had 1 can of paint because walmart ran out. going to a different walmart tomorrow to get some more.

had the rack mounted up yesterday. didnt like the way it looked. too high up mounted on the stock roof bars. working on a new mount design ive never seen before. should be a HELL of alot stronger than the factory roof cross bars. will be starting to build it later this afternoon once the sun moves to the other side of the house (garage faces east, makes it hell to work in there in the mornings)

been a little bit since i updated this. rack is mounted solid. id almost feel comfortable lifting the ZJ by the rack with a crane. almost. lol.

monday, we had a bad storm here. took down lots of trees, which subsequently blocked alot of roads. i went out in the ZJ with my buddy and we cleared some trees off the roads so people could pass through. the ZJ dragged a 1000 pound tree like it was nothing!

so with that in mind, i think the new name of this build is DRV. Disaster Relief Vehicle. not that there are many "disasters" here, but you get the idea.

also, figured out why my a/c doesnt work.



inner hub of the clutch plate separated from the clutch plate itself. made a nice squealing noise. heres a video

grabbed a new a/c clutch plate from the junkyard today, seems to be working good! actually came off a dodge avenger lol

bad news guys
Well guys i think i fried my engine. i was towing my grandpas small utility trailer this morning because i had to take a dead fridge to the scrapyard. on the way back to drop off the trailer, it started running a little hot. i knew the gauge was off by a bit, so i didnt think anything of it. then it got really hot. so hot that it started pinging. i pulled over and let it cool off. then i kept going and it started doing it again. this time when i pulled over, there was smoke coming out from under the hood. it wouldnt crank over, actually died going down the freeway and i coasted it to the side. it was pissing water out from the drivers side of the radiator, i think it got so hot that it either caused the tank to separate or actually cracked the tank. dumped some water in it and it leaked it right back out. let it cool a bit, got it fired (missing bad at this point) and limped it off the freeway and into a lowes parking lot. got it towed back to my house (luckily my grandpa has AAA and towing was free). pulled the plugs and they all looked normal. checked the compression and cylinders 1 and 3 both had only 80 psi. 5 had 100, 7 had 145. 2, 4, and 6 were around 100, and 8 had 150.

time for a 5.9 swap.

yeah shes toast. passenger side head warped. piston rings are probably screwed too.

have a lead on a motor out of a 93 ZJ with 112k on it. 500 bucks with a 1 year warranty. gotta see if i can get the cash together

i think ive decided to rebuild mine. it will be more expensive than the used motor, but it will be a brand new engine essentially.

in the mean time i picked up a good fan shroud and overflow bottle from the junkyard. mine were cracked and busted.

my grandpa just bought me reman heads for it as well as all the gaskets. that all should be here this week. today i ordered a CSF heavy duty radiator for the jeep. its a 3 row with copper tanks. should keep it nice and cool.
