Found some weird wear on the front right today. outside edge was worn down, but it cant be underinflation because the inside edge is perfect. think it was from the tire rubbing the inner fender before it cut the piece out. rotated the tire to the back so we'll see if it happens to the originally rear tire tire, and if it does, ill investigate it further.

been a while since i updated the thread, not much has happened though.

havent noticed anything out of the ordinary yet. its weird. none of the other tires have even a small sign of starting to wear the way that one did. im thinking it was from rubbing the inner fender. i have since cut out the piece that the tire was contacting

did a little more work on the jeep today.

was at the junkyard yesterday and found a couple spring clips for my tow hooks. 50 cents a pop! little rusty, but nothing a wire wheel couldnt fix. for those of you that dont know, they keep the strap from falling off the hook.


also found out why my aux lights werent working. the ground wire to the relay somehow broke. added a new one and they work now.

think the tire wear might be a bad shock. gonna pull the shock later and check it out.

shock seemed ok. it does need shocks though, im still on stock length ones.

i recently trash picked a piece of an old pool fence, because it had alot of good 3/4" square tube. I was going to use it on the go kart im putting together, but now I kind of want a roof rack again. what do you guys think? badass go kart, or badass roof rack?

just talked to a buddy of mine, he just got a new rv gate because his friend backed their boat into the old gate (first time backing up a trailer), so he is gonna give me the old gate. ill be able to do both
go kart is kind of shelved right now anyway, i need to get a trans pan for the jeep, and get my u joint driveshaft put in. still need to swap the yoke (which ill probably have a shop do anyway, i dont want to screw it up)

roof rack build

started building the new rack.
heres some of the drawings i made







bottom part of the frame done


top part done


hopefully ill be able to get that piece of fence from my buddy on monday (hes on vacation this weekend). after i get that, this should be build pretty quick. then ill just have to go to walmart and get some flat black krylon. same paint i used on my wheels, i like it because it dries really really fast (fast enough that when i painted my wheels, i could paint one wheel, paint another one, and go back to the first one for a second coat. just like that, no delay) and it covers really well.

and yeah i know that im my first drawing, 6.5" x8 doesnt equal 53", the cross bars will be slightly more spaced out than 6.5", somewhere around 6.6" is about right. obviously it wont be perfect, since im just kind of eyeballing it.

welded in some of the cross bars. ran out of metal, so the rest will be done when i get some more.
