last night I dreamt about driving the ZJ again!

gaskets, bolts, and timing set will be here tomorrow hopefully. going to call on the heads tomorrow and see where they're at, havent gotten tracking info for them yet.

ordered a 3 row radiator from quadratec, but they dont have it in stock so tomorrow im going to call and cancel the order. found the same radiator on ebay for 100 bucks less, and in stock

Awesome! Quadratec is good for certain things especially, but price is not one of them lol. $100 savings is awesome especially on a budget. Sounds like you should be getting it together soon

Yeah, I jumped the gun and ordered from quadratec without checking around other places first. Glad I save the money, I can use that for a big trans cooler

made alot of progress today.

this is what you get when you buy a chinese seal puller

painted my spark plug shields

some lock tight for the 4 exhaust studs

and look what brown santa showed up with!

head gaskets in place

right head on

left head on

starting on the rockers

right side rockers done

all done

and thats about as far as i got before it was too dark to see. i also reinstalled the ground strap that goes from both heads to the body. also bought a set of champion plugs for it. the autolites i put in 6 thousand ago had a ton of blow by between the metal and the porcelain.

tomorrow, im fairly certain the engine will be fully assembled. radiator should be here next week, then ill be able to drive her again!! cant wait!!

Looks nice. Are you doing one of the plenum fixes like the Hughes kit by chance? I personally wouldn't throw it together without. It's all right there. But that's just my humble opinion. Either way I'm glad it's going so smoothly thus far for you.

decided against it solely because i didnt have enough money lol. i wouldve loved to though. oh well, i used a new fel pro gasket and rtv on both sides of the gasket, so it should be good for a while anyway. i might do the hughes kit down the road when i get some money.

oh, forgot to add, i was checking out my old heads this morning. i poured gas in each port and watched the valves. all but 2 (out of 16 valves) leaked. some leaked faster than others. im willing to bet thats where my erratic compression numbers came from

intake gaskets on along with the plug wires

done, and no leftover bolts!

then i got an unexpected surprise. UPS showed up with my radiator! i was so excited that i was gonna drive the jeep this weekend. i opened the box only to find this

****ing UPS dropped the box on its corner and mangled the hell out of the filler neck.
